is exhaust legal?

got an end can to go on my gsxr 600 it's marked e1. going to fit it anyway but want to know if the plod are going to give us hassle if and i when i get pulled over?

It depends on how much the noise takes the piss, and how much right wrist you're giving it when they hear you. If it has an E mark, they probably won't bother you excessively about it, but if it is overly loud, they might still give you a rectification notice. Then simply put the old one back on and take it down to the station: "Oh look, I've fixed it!"

I got a Blue Flame can for my GSXR and although its stamped as road legal (BSAU summin........) you can remove the bottom plug for 'bass'.

Now it sounds lovely!

well i thought mine must of been road legal (when i brought bike with it on) as it didnt have anything on it till a month later its got it right down the side of it(wheel side) it says "not for road use"


yet the man said he got it through a MOT with it on

its only illeagal when it says "not for road use" on it if it isnt e-marked or CE ect ect that doesnt matter, even for the m.o.t still is ok

must sound like right idiot now, the instruction say to replace inner wool every 3k miles. how and why would you? its a yoshimura tri oval slip on, any suggestions would be appricated even if its just "leave it alone it'll be fine".

i think (dont quote me!!) that repacking it as gets louder over time if you dont repack it, 3k sound a bit too often to me though

Hi

With an E mark it is probably a road legal exhaust.

For an MOT the markings are irrelevant unless it is marked "not for road use" (in which case it is an automatic fail). Otherwise it is up to the discretion of the MOT tester and should fail if it is noiser that a standard exhaust in reasonable condition.

The packing in the exhausts compresses with age which is why they are saying to repack it. Can make quite a noticeable difference.

mines loud as f##k, even my own dad said he would pull me with it on. but its got the "NOT FOR ROAD USE" filed and smoothed out......plus i have the std 1 just in case....
