Unless your a medical doctor you'd be taking a big risk !

This one guy saved this womens life at the roadside with CPR but cracked two of her ribs ,she took him to court for thousands of pounds and won Rolling Eyes

St Johns Ambulance recommend all first aiders are insured against lawsuits !


Sorry but that’s an urban legend no first aider has been successfully sued in this country for saving some ones life through CPR the only case I am aware of even reaching a court was thrown out and all cost awarded to the first aider.

Well I hope thats true ,but thats what we were told by St johns Ambulance during our 3 day course ,can't think why they would lie to us Confused

I can picture the scene, someone lying on the pavement, unconscious and being asked if its OK to do CPR or someone has a severed artery, saying " Is it OK if I tie this piece of string round your leg to stop you bleeding to to death?, but before I do sign this piece of paper to ensure you don't sue me later!" - Ridiculous - basically if that's what they are advocating you might as well not waste your time doing a first aid course. I did it because my company paid me extra cash each month for being a first Aider Laughing

But its well worth doing If your kid or other loved one needs cpr and you watch them die because you did'ent know what to do ..............how sad would that be !

As sad as it is that another young life has ended prematurely, I'm not sure it's a good idea to post something like this just a few hours after the accident. The next of kin might not have been informed yet, and there could be a friend/relative of his on BCF, for whom the detail provided in the post was enough to identify the rider.

I don't think any of my nearest and dearest would like to be informed about my death on an internet forum.

I haven't noticed anything yet. But i doubt it will be in anything above the local paper. I bet crashes like this happen all the time so the news doesnt report them. Ill buy a copy of tomorrows keighley news.

It was in the local paper yesterday but no names or details have been given.

It just says "A motorcyclist died after colliding with an articulated skip lorry. The motorbikes rider, a 30 year old man from Bingley died at the scene. A 59 year old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and is being questioned"

yea romperstomper1 i agree with you that if you do it without breaking a rib then great, however i i ever did have to proform CPR on someone and i heard a rib creak, i wouldnt stop and be like "oh sh*t, what have a done" and just carry on and hope that were do get to feel the pain when they wake up instead of dying (if that makes sense)

On topic: Sorry that you saw that, and sympathies go out to the riders family and the truck driver.

Off Topic: In the RAF, we're (males only) are taught, unoffically, if you see a woman who might need CPR, walk on by, alot easier than the court case that will probably happen for sexual assault (known to happen).

Money grabbing society we live in. Rolling Eyes
