Was riding home on the RS today after work, saw a scooter coming the other way, you know the type, MX lid, goggles...

Except this lad gives me a huge big nod like his head's almost falling off!

Totally shocked and stunned, before I realised what I'd done, I gave him an equally huge nod, doing a good impression of a dog shaking water out of its hair...

...Random ped boi nod - and who says that pedbois are unpleasant lads? Smile Thumbs Up

I therefore state that "everyone who makes sweeping generalisations, is an arse" Cool

Oi.
I nod with a twist of the neck in a sorta kinda diagnol down away from the dude coming the other way while keeping my eyes on him Smile.
Kinda like tipping a hat, but without a hat, or moving your hands.

Surely, a nod's a nod, isn't it ?

Nothing to do with 'Chav's'. It's down to personal preference.

If it's any consolation, I always use a downward, right-to-left nod (a bit like 'doffing' my head, if you like).

WOW!!! I'm a Chav Thumbs Up

I nod at EVERY biker - from ped to ltr+.

However, TBH, around my area there are an awful lot of ped riders with 'L' plates who want their f*****g heads knocking off thier shoulders, especially the stupid, idiot riders on their way to and from college. More particularly, those who want to 'show off' to the girls or their mates who don't have - or simply can't afford to own - a bike of any sort.

Before you all start slagging me off. This is my opinion only, but it is based on my observation of the way most of these people decide to ride.

In my observations I've noticed the following...

Only ever use the throttle in the fully open or fully closed position. Anything in between these settings just doesn't do anything.

Ride in the gutter, then, swerve out into the middle of the road when there's debris in the gutter and a road hump right in front of you.

Keep to the left of your lane then, turn right at any roundabout you come across. Don't worry about using your indicators, we're all mind readers and know exactly which way you're turning.

Don't use your indicators at all. Everyone knows exactly where you're going, just like you do.

Just wear a lid. Don't need gloves, leggings, boots, gloves or a jacket.

Don't wear reflective clothing of any sort (you might look like a right ponce if you do, rather than a responsible biker).

Don't put the lights on until it's absolutely pitch black or until you realise you haven't got any lights on at all!

Just ignore everything you've been taught on CBT. You don't need shoulder checks and lifesavers anymore, just go where you want to.

Like I said, these are just a few of my own observations. They don't apply to ALL ped riders, Just the minority of stupid riders who think they're 'invincible' once they mount their machine.

Oh well, I'll just wait for the rants against 'The Old Geeza', as usual Rolling Eyes

I ride a scooter, and i nod to everyone i come across, the last person on a real bike to nod back was someone on a small-capacity zxr-L, probably a 400 or 250.

On the chav biker note, when using the bus last week whilst my scooter was in for its MOT, a stolen yamaha went past (smashed front, flat back tyre, 2 riders without helmets. I reported it to the police when i got into town, only to see the bastards go through town, across the paved area infront of the town hall, then past the bus station. i was |---| <--- that far from chasing them, lashing my throwing star in the pillion's back and generally doing my best to incapacitate them before ringing the police.

Sorry for the off-topic rant lol

I'd nod at you too, Jack. I don't discriminate.

Oh, by the way. Steady on fella. 'small capacity' doesn't have to mean 'low speed' ya' know.

I reckon you might already know I've got a GPX250 and a GPZ500 but, well, you know how they go Thumbs Up

Think I might have lost the plot of your reply, Jack. Not to worry. Now't against you, you understand Wink

NSR125rr, 110mph, 0-60 in 6 secs according to Korn. Hopefully i'll be able to put his derestriction guide to the test by buying an NSR.

I nod all day when I'm on the bike. Although most of the scoots around here don't generally nod, but I will happy to nod back if they do.
I have recently adapted to a more of a twist than a bow kind of nod because it is much better for continuing visibility.

Although I do love the clutch hand wave when being overtaken by a superbike on the motorway, but how do you respond. ?
