NSR De-Restricted Now! ( Kinda )

Ritchie ( True Blue ) Just de-restricted my bike for me! And took the plate out the carb and drilled the exhaust plate out too!

It is a lot more responsive wen trying to boot it! But as its a import it still need the CDI unit replaced/sorted or watever!

But wen im driving noramlly away from the power-ban thing. it seems to choke at about 6 - 6.5 RPM in about 3rd - 4th - 5th gear! and if i want to hit the Power-ban thing i hav to drop a gear!

Anybody know wat could be causing this or even better how to fix it?

Too small jets, needle placed wrong. Maybe even a dirty carb. Place your needle in center notch if it has 5 notches and 2nd notch from top if it has 4 notches (The number of notches varies!) Then put 138 on main jet, 42 on slow jet, and 65 on power jet. After this, clean your carb with some WD-40. This should solve the problem!

The jets are located in the carb, which is located under the tank and airbox. Remove all the cables from the carb and take it out, then remove the big bolt under it. the jets are located inside the float chamber, which you can reach by doing this. 3 jets need to be changed. The numbers are the jet sizes, but make sure you get Dellorto jets (carb brand).
You can get to the needle by removing the two bolts on top of the carb and disassembling the throttle cable from the slide.

At the bike show DSS quoted me £104.75 for the CDI unit. A little more than I thought it would be. I'm currently searching elsewhere...

I found the CDI and the RC units on ebay for 70 euros, you guys should start monitoring ebay, someone will sell a CDI there sooner or later.

And yes stuart, I'm pretty sure this is the problem, if you have any problems, give me a PM. The jets should be about £2 each, you can order them from www.dellorto.com by mailing Matt Cooper. You will probably find the main jet at an MC store, but the power and slow jets are a little harder to get, so order them

Thats me finished trying to fix my flat spot! I took out teh carb and cleaned it with WD - 40 and had a wee look around to see if there was anything that look any out of the ordinary! But all looked fine!

After all that i stuck it all back together and fired it up ( started first time ) Went for a wee run and its still there

So im prosuming i need new Jets! There is only two in the carb i think. So will i be able to go to Victor Devine Honda tomorrow and ask for new jets and they will be able to giv me them?

Dont think im gonna be to great at taking them out and replacing them tho, but ill giv it a bash anyhow!

There are 3 jets that you should replace, the main jet (138), the slow jet (42) and the power jet (65). All of them are located inside the float chamber. The power jet is the smallest one, located next to one of the floats, the slow jet is a bit bigger, located around the middle, tha main jet is the biggest, located on the big bolt that you removed when you opened the float chamber.
And also, did you check the needle? Disassemble the throttle cable from the throttle slide, and you will be able to see if it is set to the right height. (Center notch if the needle has 5 notches, 2nd from the top if the needle has 4 notches)
