Electric problem

This is kinda linked in with my white smoke thread,

my battery is knackered, i am aware of this, however when i connect it up to the jump leads, the neutral light wont go on and the electric starter wont work.

Its not a blown fuse as far as i can tell, is it just because of the dead battery or do i have yet more complicated problems with my once flawless bike?

Everything should work ok when you hook up the other battery - do you have lights?

Dunno about Hondas, but Suzukis have a main 30A fuse, usually located on or near the starter solenoid. If that's gone then it'll be totally dead however good the battery is.

Speaking of electrics, i was on a motorway slip road and as i went to change gear i got a short sharp shock in my left hand from the bike.

As all the electric stuff is on the other side-any ideas????

New battery fitted, neutral light comes on when it wants to.... will check connections!

If nothing works most likely your earth cable is corroded where it links onto the bike.
That is the negative lead, which runs directly to the bike frame.
