Give them all a ping with a small spanner.
If they go "ping, ping, ping, ping, ping." all the way round, no problem.
If they go "ping, ping, thunk, ping, ping, ping." you may fail on a loose/badly corroded spoke.
That is how my MOT guy tests them anyway. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

How old is it?
If it was made before 1986, take them off and tape up the switch for the MOT then fix them at your leisure.
Pre 1986 there is no requirement for indicators, but if they are fitted they have to work. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

Same thing where do you live m8 ?, i had a 1981 GP100 and know a fair bit about them.... might be able to help n im sorta a sparky but its hard to help with not having the problem infront of me
Also with GP100 switch gear check the actual switches mine fecked up numerous times now i come to think of it.... but be careful if you take the switches apart the little ball n spring are a right bastard to put back together (took me over an hour 1st time), but i remember them contacts on the sliding switch being very very dirty when i first started to sort mine for MOT

Is your Step Dad 'Mongrel'? If so I did him a rough guide to knackered GP100 indicators in the workshop section:

Correct me if I'm wrong...
Wasn't the X1 a moped from about 1978 ?
You've put old wheels from a moped onto a 100cc bike as an upgrade ?

Performance bikes done a GP100 up a long time ago and this was built by my m8 mostly followin on from this, i just pasted the mods he done from the txt file on my pc i just done the finishing touches and added a tuned 125 top end, exhaust, bars n some other little bits n bobs.....
it was cool for wot it was and it was my "back into biking" bike after my Disqualification.... it beat RS 125's n the like off the line and up to 60 and you could wheelie off the throttle in 1st n 2nd it was cool and i dont give a shit what any one else says
any way enuff thread hijacking.... Let us know where you live mate and im certain some one will be nearby and come n give u a hand with sorting it out |
