Do you have any "Routines" that you go through before setting off? Be it on the track, or on the road?

For me i always put my left glove on first, then the right, then i adjust my visor / goggles if im on the track.

When im racing, i always put my left boot on first with the steel shoe on, then the right.

I put helmet and left glove on, then use right hand to disable alarm and put key in, then do leathers up and put right glove on.

DO that routine everytime! Razz

Zip up jacket, put keys into ignition, lid on, gloves on, go.

Not really supersticious though

I wouldn't call myself superstitious - I have a routine on doing things, but I have a routine on doing many things other than biking. It's a subconscious order, I'm a methodical person - but there's no underlying 'belief' as to why I do something systematically.

NAh. I deliberately break superstitions.

Mirrors, umbrellas, kick black cats etc.

I even got out of the habit of 'lucky fags' in fag decks Rolling Eyes
Although if offered i dont take the 'lucky fag' lest evil befell me, ie they got arsey.

I suppose i cross my chest if i see a bad crash. But thats only been once or twice. And im not even religious.

I always pat the tank as I get off from a ride as if to say thank you for the safe journey.

I do tend to talk to her as I am riding too.

But then I am slightly nuts........ Shocked

Wantser Thumbs Up

I don't do anything superstitous or anything, but one morning as I was waiting for my bike to warm up to do my normal commute to work, (back when I was riding my RS125), all I could think was that something bad was going to happen on my way to work. I was standing for ages just staring into my pond in the garden in a bit of a daze, but then just hopped onto the bike once it was warmed up and thought nothing of it. But still, all I kept thinking of was something happening & me being injured then sure enough, about 10 minutes into my journey on a dual carriageway, a car swerved into my lane & knocked me off, sliding down the road! Rolling Eyes How I laughed, lying there in the middle of the A1... oh wait... no I didn't.

...bloody superstitions (or is that a preminition?). Neutral

Without intention I put on my gear in the same order everytime, and as time has gone by I'm more conscious that I do it in this order.

I have routines that i follow when doing things that arent superstition.

Eg: I always walk out the door, hit my right pocket and say in my head "wallet", then hit my left pocket, "Phone" then my rear pocket , "Cap" and with them 3 i feel im good to go Smile

The gloves, boots etc are superstition though Smile

I always let my bike warm up too and set off after the temperature display starts registering, from 40°C.

kenny wrote:

I always ride with my lights on and have no choice with the R1, they are always on. The sidelights come on when the ignition is turned to on and then the headlights come on when the ignition is pressed/engine is on.

A couple of times I have been known to congratulate the bike (commonly on trackdays) for getting me and bike around in one piece.

The bike does speak back sometimes although it only says "Harder" or "Rag me".

BTW, anyone know a good shrink?
