i have just been called buy car data as im am selling my RS125 and have put an add in auto trader, i put it in a £1975 just to see how it goes and if nothing comes then i was going to lower it anyways.

i just a call and they said they have people interested etc etc and for they do it on finance for the buyer that whey it goes though them. For £79.99 they claim if i can let people see it will be sold.

i was going to lower price anyways so £79.99 isnt that much really BUT i am very unsure if this is a scam or not, the website is

www.cardata.co.uk/

had anyone ever been approached by them and gone ahead? i said i would think about it and he said she will call monday about it.

some advise would be great as i would like to get rid of it (not because theres anything wrong with it just found 2 SV650s that i really like, 1 not too far from my house either)

I think this has been mentioned on here before if you search for it, basicaly people said you pay the money and never hear of them again even though they say they have people waiting to buy it.

thats what i thought but if they said you get your money back after a period would trading standard close them down as i remember when i did Bussiness Studies there was some law against it, im *thinking* it is a scam as sounds too good. however if they do finance then maybe it makes sense

Don't do it! It's more cost effective to sell it yourself!

Search Fights and Flame Wars for "cardata".

I'd strongly advise against it, as would so many other people.
Including the newspapers.

yea true but just no interest at this time of year, when i sold my moped in May had about 12-15 people call about it and had it sold by 4 days after the add was done, didnt even make it into the magazine because it was sold so quick. i hate selling at this time of year as know it is worth what i put it up at,

maybe just have to play the waiting game

or.....try and see if i can talk to the people interest and find out if it was really a scam, i know they will never let me talk to the "interested people" but want to know if they were trying to rip me off

The only good thing about cardata is you get to abuse them over the phone when they call.

ok i posted this as soon as i got off the phone from them as at work and bored out of my mind, been here since 8am and didnt get to sleep till 2am.

after reading this:

https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/mirrorinvestigates/tm_column_date=01092005-name_index.html

im not going to proceed, i know papers exagerate but just confirmed my thoughts.

instead i will turn my efforts in the return call to ask them questions that i want to know as if it is a scam want to give them a piece of my mind,

anyone got any questions that want answered from cardata?

mine is:
Arrow i have been on your website and my bike isnt on it, how can you have buyers lined up if my bike isnt even on your site?
Arrow if your a doing finance they may i speak with the buyers with you still on the line as proof you do have real buyers for my bike?

anyone got any other good ones?

Ask them to give you a writen garuntee that if you have had no inqireys(sp) on your bike in 2 months you will have your money returned to you, this sholdnt be a problem for them as they already have people waiting so they say.
