I'm quite amazed that I havent yet been blown off my bike by a strong gust of wind ever since I've been riding. Been pushed around the whole of my lane before by the wind, but don't yet know of 1 person ever to have an off as a result of 'strong wind', so to speak Laughing

i have had the bike at some strange angles in wind before (so much that my mate in the car ahead asked if i was ok, and was i safe!) but never come off. the one to watch for is when you overtake a lorry or bus, the wind blast when you pass the front knocks you sideways. Thats the most dangerous one ive always thought.

Pretty darned close to it one day going over a u-shaped bridge, had it lent over a little bit as I came around the top and was met by a nasty gust. Nearly pulled the thing right out from under me.
Had to throw a leg out to keep her upright.

Near shit meself but luck was on my side. I hate riding in shit wind more than anything else.

The a507 gets quite bad. Was very lent over just after the sharp S's and because it a very open road (why i like it, lots of vis) it gets big gusts of wind rolling over the hill. Well when you are pretty low anyway and something takes both wheels a foot sideways at 60-70 odd. Thats interesting.

A friend of mine was blown into the central reservation on a dual carriageway once. He was on a CBR125 ( Embarassed ), and they're light as owt though!

When I first started riding, I had a big ass TDR 125 and I found that it attracted the wind alot! I remember on my first long-ish ride out I got hit by the wind & instantly panicked, thought I was gonna crash & die or something Embarassed . It doesn't really bother me now though.

Hi
Once on my VFR with tank bag, pillion and 2 rucksacks, we got caught in a big cross wind, felt like the front was going to tuck under, had to ride at nearly 45 degrees just to stay in a stright line, very scary.

Parked up for a while but had to sit on the bike to stop it from being blown over Confused

then it started to snow and thunder & lightening, prolly couldnt have got much worse Laughing

i had mine leaned in a straight line the wind was that bad, the best bit is when a bus comes past and breaks the force of the wind and your steal leaning, nearly dropping the bike Thumbs Up

I've always found that if I'm being blown about by the wind its best to ride a bit faster. Usually sorts it out. Haven't a clue why but it honestly does work.

Travelled over the m61 from manchester to huddersfield which is the highest motorway in britain or something like that and its bloody windy up there! It's all hills and stuff with a big valley in the middle, the hills kind of protect you from the wind but when you come in to this valley its a bit scary, especially when you've been hiding from the wind behind the side of a lorry. Nearly got swept across into the next lane! Still i sped up to get back behind the hills Laughing

problem solved!

Used to live in keithly and had to travel across the moors to get to work each morning had the wind nearly fling me into the kerb a couple of times. Its worse though when your trying to drive slowly because of the wind which in turn leads to the arseholes in the cars behind driving right up your arse coz they dont relise how much side winds effect a bike.

When stopped at lights on the cbr125 I nearly went, Embarassed and driving to holyhead is scary on the zx6, there are a few bridges that I have to just stick my head down and go, I agree with TL666, faster is better Thumbs Up Have ended up nearly getting my knee down on a straight road (not driving straight at the time, got blown across 3 lanes)
Confused

Nearly got blown off my scooter once when I was a newbie, compensating for the wind in one direction I didn't realise the tall buildings would suddenly make it come from the other direction. Half dropped it and hauled it back up (easier on a scoot), learned a lesson that day. Laughing

I'm more worried about the wind pushing me into a kerb or into the path of something, causing an incident, rather than being blown completely off the bike by wind.

Anything that makes a ride more tricky & difficult such as poor handling, strong winds and wet roads gets the thumbs up from me. The idea of a top of the range bike that sticks to the roads like glue and goes around bends like it's on rails is not really my thing.

yey, agree Thumbs Up
I do like a bit of a blast around the bypass; and the bypass around Edinburgh is very open and there's nearly always a wind 'issue' - I generally just go faster...like to think of it as me beatin the wind at it's own game...

Oooo now am thinking I could slip back into the armour and take it for a blast... <again> Laughing

bike almost stopped a few times in a gale because of the air flow around my k&n's almost came a cropper doing that, took me 3 hours to go 60 miles, had to get off the motorway,, too dangerous..
almost got blown off on my first bike,, was going flat out against the wind well screaming it and doing 40,, then i turned a corner and was nicely surprised that i had to ride with my arse hanging off the right hand side of the bike to go in a straight line,, , i decided to trun round and go home and had to get off the bike to turn round it was that bad,,
