i just bought a 1999/2000 dtr125. it has all the 2000 restrictions. ive removed the restrictor for 60mph from the back of the clocks, and turned the p/v 180 deg. but i feel no change. i hit about 55mph on the flat. i know i have a chmaber restrition but should it affect it this much? and the cdi mod too.

thanks, jay

Did you take the restricters out of the downpipe?

The top speed wont increase just from derestricting it, you'll need to play around with the sprockets.

Good luck Thumbs Up!

wel it should, because 55mph is about third gear, its not revving out fully. plus it had a electronic 60mph restrictor

With the standard gearing you'd be looking at about 65/70 mph tops.

The exhaust restriction will be most effective restriction, get it out and you WILL notice the difference Twisted Evil.

Yeah it should, mine does a indicated 75 and that is without messing with power valve and fuse at the back of the rev thingy. I'm not sure what up to be honest your sure the carbs are set right your revving it fairly high and in a suitable gear ?? All I can suggest.

From memory the DTR comes out of the shop with the power valve set to, half open.
If you get friendly with a mechanic (no gay love involved) you could get it set to open fully, after which you can go to www.dirtbikestore.com or .co.uk I forget and talk to them.
They have everything you need for the DTR to up rate the jets, exhaust system and sprockets.

Good luck Thumbs Up

The DT is NEARLY UNUSABLE WITH THE POWERVALVE SET FULLY OPEN, YOU HAVE A BETTER TOP SPEED WITH IT SET 1/2 - 3/4 WAY OPEN. Have you checked compression? does it start easily?
