have many people off here used them before?

well as it coming up to winter/in winter i thought i would invest in a balacava as my chin gets freezing at the moment, i also went for some inner gloves aswell as gloves arnt warm enough and will be better till i can get some winter ones. i also got the free disc lock aswell (which is very generous of them!)

after waiting 5 days (which for £5 delivery seems long) i recieved my package, i am very relieved as using bike tomorrow and today weather is notiably colder.

firstly the packaging is poor, its basicaly a plastic bag, i open the bag to find my buffalo balacalva, the box for the balacava is in a bad shape due to packaging Thumbs Down (just tried in while going to fill up, very impressed)

next i pull out my disc lock, seems ok but doesnt scream "you will break this lock while tring to nick the bike its on" but hey its free and will do till i can afford a alarmed one.

next i go to pull out my Frank Thamas inner gloves, this never happens however as the bag is empty! i am quite suprised/annoyed as was looking forward to warm hands for a change (well warmer than at the moment) so ring them up, they say its on backorder and will be with me beginning of next week Twisted Evil i didnt kick up a fuss as wasnt the ladies fault and nothing would have come of it.

im just a bit shocked as at no point in my order did it say they werent in stock.

in all i think the postage was overpriced, packaging very poor, time to arrive too much for price of postage (inner glove will probaly take 9-10 days), just not great really

sorry if this is a bit of a rant but want to warn anyone thats thinking of ordering with them! (some people may have positive experiences but im afraid i didnt)

for me M+P Thumbs Down and wont be using them again! anyone recommend another site instead?

https://www.bikergear.co.uk/index.htm

Main advantage is that the delivery is free, stuff looks reasonably priced, but there isnt a huge range.

In my experience, that is typical of the service of pretty much all bike shops, mail order or otherwise. The few exceptions tend to be small sole proprietor type shops who know their level of customer service is directly proportional to their income.

I have had problems with them before. I ordered a new back tyre and no where along the line did it say they neve had one in stock and that it would take 4-5 weeks to come.

So when i phoned up 2 weeks later all they did was appologised and i told them where to stick their tyre. I had up till that point been quite a big user of them but not for a while will i be using them!

Thing is Andy, you'll never accomplish anything if you don't tell them this. Constructive criticism, let them know what you think of the service. I do it on all online shops. If I receive something very quickly and professionally, then I'll email them to let them know I am pleased. If not, I'll let them know what my thoughts were on their service - always politely of course, never blatantly calling them 'sh*t'.

It just so happens that I've never used M&P. Whoever pays the £5 postage is a mug.

Exactly how much packaging do you need on a balaclava? It's not like it's going to smash if the postie drops it...

Me and my dad always use them. I think they are really good. You bought that deal from the email didn't you? No wonder it will take a while as everyone will be wearing it.

Whats the point of making a big box for it as it will be a waste of postage and cardboard, its not like your gonna keep the box.

I ordered a new chain from them 2nights ago and it showed up this afternoon, brilliant packaging. Also ordered quite a bit from them over the years and never had one problem with them. Given the weight of the chain the £5 postage was a bargin, god knows what it would have cost through the royal mail.

i quite agree, my point is why is it £5 to post when it took ages, only 2/3 came, and all they used was a few stamps (was quite light) and a plastic bag?

That was lucky, glad you mentioned this m and p site. I tried to order some inner gloves and balaclava tonight and it would not recognise the codes for the balaclava so sacked it, maybe I had a lucky escape then. Can anyone recommend any good uk bike shops online as I was bloody freezing this morning, my fingers hurt like hell by the time I got to work with the cold Crying or Very sad

It will probably be a flat rate of £5 unless it is over a certain weight usually 2.5kg's.

As M&P will have contracts with royal mail they will not pay the full wack you and me will have to.

I tried to buy a bikini fairing for my bike off MandP over the summer.

Found it online, set up an account, ordered it and payed with debit card.

Charged the card, ok all well and good i think. Be here in 1 week.

8 days later - Nothing

14 days later - Nothing

RIng them up - "Oh sorry sir we cant find your order"... "But you charged my card"..."Oh wait here it is, for the bikini fairing priced at £29.99?"..."Yeah thats the one..." "Yeah its no longer being manufactured."

W T F!?!?!?!?

"So why charge my card and make me wait 2 weeks, only to tell me when i ring up!?" "Sorry sir".

And so it went on. Ended up getting another fairing for the same price with free postage.

Havent used them again since Thumbs Up

Ah I can imagine the cursing going on inside that lid as the fingers start to freeze!! Mad

It is frustrating when companies just fuck you about. They'll sell you something that isn't in stock which is just not on.

Best thing you can do is rant about it here and warn others. This sort of forum should be thier main incentive for improving customer service.

Thier name is noted.

Andy - I've got some inner gloves hanging around my garage that came free with one of the Bike Mags that might do you until you're able to get some, I've never used them.

If you PM me your address I'll post them to you (assuming you want them obviously!).

No promises on delivery time but I'll attempt to get them to you before Christmas Wink

IMO thats exacly it... they are carp because they can.. if your ordering from them you only other option is to order from somewhere equally rubbish..

If i need something for the bike i'll generally go and get it myself, a real shame really, usually i'll get stuff of e-bay cheaper, better packaged and faster Rolling Eyes

I bought an MRA screen then dropped the bike. I called the distributer to ask if they'd refund for the un-opened screen. Yes just send it in. Great guys.
I bought a hugger for the bike and it never fitted properly I emailed the agent for advice on this and got no reply.
I bought two tyres from Tomahawk. Had problems with balancing and bits rubbing off in patches email T/hawk no reply.

I will not buy from the fuckers who don't respond, but will go back to competent guys and recomend them to friends.

Accept nothing but 100%

I don't give a flying fart how small the guys operation is. If they can't provide a proper service then they don't deserve the business.
That's business.
