Recently I have been thinking of Getting a 600 Srad. Now whereas I am having trouble scraping money together at this time of year, my mate has just come into a considerable amount of money.
So today I am going with him to go look at a k4 600 gsxr. Any main points to look for? And how would I tell if its been used for excessive track riding?
Any pointers would be much appreciated. Thumbs Up
Looks like I wont be affording one until the spring! Chin up I will have to wait! But I want to make sure my mate buys a decent bike, as he doesnt know what to look for when buying. That and I want a go!! Twisted Evil

should be able to pick up a bargin this time of year Laughing , ask loads of questions, i like to ask them loads of questions just to see what there like so if quite vague with their answers it not their pride and joy and maybe maintanece wasnt done so well, the seller is important as the bike i think sometimes.

Dont know to much about GSXR600 K4 though, sure someone else will!lol

Good luck and try and get a "extended" go for about 4 months till you get one!!

Obviously check for lockwiring holes if it was a race bike. Although probably not with an SRAD.

If its been a track bike, look for chipped frame/wheels but pristine fairings.

Obviously bobbling on tyres, but that's not hard to disguise. Other than that, I don't think there's much that distinguishes a bike that's done loads of trackdays.

If it's been dropped, there's a few things to look for. Has it got an aftermarket can? If he hasn't got the original ask why. Has it had a tarty spray job?

Personally a bike that's seen a few trackdays isn't a bad thing in my book. Probably means it's been looked after a bit better. And I'd rather a bike that's been ridden quite hard rather than pootled around its whole life.

A friend of mine has an 00 SRAD and adores it.

i don't know if this is true cuz a mate told me. take a look at the zorst system around the manifold and link pipes and if it's gold/purple/burnt looking colour it means it's had the bollocks revved off it...don't take my word on it though

The link pipe is going to discolour, my K4 has and yes, i give it some stick, but I don't redline it everywhere. Take a look at bikes in the street and the link pipes. They are sports bikes, they were made to have the bollocks revved off them!

I think almost all sport bikes will get purple colored link pipes after some time, they get real hot.
