Got caught nipping into the bus lane for about 3 seconds, then saw the cops ahead so swifty left the bus lane... but, they pulled me as I passed and hit me with the £30 fine (fair cop well one of them anyway). Two points to this thread:-

1) One of them was a complete and utter a-hole... so If he's reading YOU ARE A FE(KIN TW@T... hehe. The other guy stuck to the facts and was completely professional. So 50% are (unts Thumbs Down the other 50% aren't... Thumbs Up

2) Why do they need to ask your occupation? Does this have an influence on the fine???

....
The pri(k police checked the bike other in soo much unnecessary detail you would believe... didn't find anything tho so up him Twisted Evil

Yey dude ... Its odd cos I got off the bike and fully owned up to being in the bus lane, no point trying to get out of it and I thought they'd both appreciate the honesty and ability to just get on do the fine and move on...but one was a real (unt and just wanted to attempt to intimiate... fu(ker!! Thumbs Down

But I don't get the occupation thing why is it relevant 'cos it it's not written on the pink fine document... Confused

Jeez..they are playing good cop/bad cop.

It's quite common.

I refused to answer any questions from 'bad cop' on one occasion and it ended up with good cop screaming at bad cop to shut up.

Sad but true.

What i used to find when i was a younger and the local plod alway's gave us grief, was that it was usually the younger copper's who acted like they where on a crusade with a massive chip on there shoulder. The older one's couldn't be bothered with the paper work so usually just a ticking off from them.

Anyway bad luck on your fine Thumbs Down

I was going down aroad earlier with lots of garden centres and this big truck pulled out. I overtook him and was accelerating when in the distance i saw a 'tree feller' in a high-vis jacket and ghard hat step into the road and hold his arm out for me to stop. As i got near him he started moving his arm up and down to slow down. I thought 'What is this guy doing????' Then, as i got nearer his truck, i saw a police car parked behind it (there had been some sort of accident). I nodded to the guy as i went past and got a look off some tall, old copper. How kind that guy was!

Thumbs Up Thumbs Up To tree fellers!

Bikes can use most bike lanes in Bristol. Chelmsford is also getting something similar. It's coming into effect at the moment.

In london it seems you can use the bus lanes when there's not enough room to filter cos the lanes are too narrow, taxis are the worst, in and out bus lanes like yo yos.
You could take the piss out of the coppers and ask what they do for a full time job.
Were they bike copps?

Nope, if they get you on camera, they'll fine you. Happened to me twice. The second time I'd timed it so the camera was looking the other way, but the lane was blocked by a car turning, and a bus shot up behind me with a camera mounted Sad

Really don't understand why people take such issue with the police. I'd be willing to bet money that half the people on here who think they come across as 'knowing their rights' or 'cool bikers' actually come over as arrogant tw*ts. Same thing goes for the police, and lets be honest, you know riding in the bus lanes is wrong, and as you are all super-negative about the fuzz, you should assume that at least one of them is going to act like an idiot. Stop whining, or stop riding in bus lanes.
