 Posted: 17:47 - 30 Nov 2005 Post subject: SV 650 at 17 just a few small questions |
 |
|
In the coming year plan to buy a sv 650 despite the fact i dislike the look of them stock. This of course sounds a dumb thing to do.
I would like to take the standard sv650 and give it a full fairing and twin carbon cans.
I would like to use the hotbodys racing rear (https://www.hotbodiesracing.com/SV6501000_ut_sbk.php4#) end so is there somewhere i could get a custom job for my cans?
I am also looking for a nice front end and now i feel that the only way of achieving this would be to use a race faring and fit the lights back into it? are there any good street farings that will still hold the lamps eny info would be useful
And my final question is what could i expect to pay on my insurance on TPFT or Fully Comp? and what advanced licences can i take to lower my insurance i live in lichfield near bassets pole and the bike will be garaged, with a datatag + alarm + immobilizer disk lock and possibly a ground ancor.
Thanks guys ride safe ____________________ A Lean Mean Smoking Mashine |

and a ZZR doesnt look like this
Thats very true, but that has had a lot of money spent on it very nice looking bike mate go for it the pipe system would have to be custom made best option would be to ask at your nearest engineering firm, Dan ____________________ Don't ride it, RAG IT!! |

Even though it saddens me that someone who claims to like using vehicles is also willing to spend so much money on getting a vehicle they will not want to use, some answers:
| Quote: | so is there somewhere i could get a custom job for my cans? |
If you mean a custom system made up for your bike, I can strongly reccomend MHP (MarK Hill Performance) in Surry, though the looks may not be quite up to tarty tastes (not sure what he can do to make it look toy like), he does know what he's doing, both my SVs should be going there to get a look over before next season.
| Quote: | would be to use a race faring and fit the lights back into it? are there any good street farings that will still hold the lamps eny info would be useful |
You should be able to bodge pretty much any fairing on if you try hard enough, along with lights. Personally I think pretty much all the non-standard aftermarket street fairings look ugly.
Look at projector beams headlights. If you want to go ultra tarty you can bodge a 999 fairing on there.
Insurance is unlikely to change much with Datatag, Alarm and disc lock and only then if the latter two are expensive thatcham ones.
Few companies except advanced qualifications, in my experience those that do, tend to be more expensive to start with.
Incidentally, newer bikes get significant insurance hikes, even for TPO! (A ten year old nsr125 was under half the price to insure as one under a year old for me - yet performed exactly the same.)
Even on a new bike, getting fully comp then claiming for a theft could come out more expensive for you than getting TPO and just not claiming if the bike gets stolen. |
