 |

Hi
Ive just done my CBT and i was wondering and im aloud to listen to music when driving around town and on my way to school. As it get alittle boring and id like something to amuse me. And yes it will be through headphones in my helmet.
I currently ride a Jet force TSDI 50. Im 16 and its still restricted to 30mph
I know this might be a stupid question but id hate to get 3 points by accident when ive only been driving for 4 days.
thanks

Think this has already been posted, and the answer was yes and no. Yes it's legal, but no you shouldn't cos the police could say you were driving dangerously and use the ipod to prove it. And unless you got a death wish might be a good idea to keep all of your senses available...there's too much out there that'll hurt you if you not careful. Your only 16 live a little longer dude...

Its no more a distraction the a car drive with windows wound up and stereo full blast.. i can hear a hell of allot more with both phones in than the above..
Genereally i'll ride with the left side in only, this way i can still hear 100% out of one side should i need to, only wear both on motorway journeys..
Distraction depends greatly on the person, i concentrate much better with music than without.. ____________________ >RidingSkills<->Tech Tips<->MyBikes< |

I'd rather have all my senses working 100%, biking is risky enough without lowering your chances even further. I'd be distracted by the music but thats me, if you're not distracted by it what the fucks the point in listening to it? ____________________ 2012 KTM EXC 250

I'd say it depends alot on the music you listen to. Listening to some calm music when you're usually a bit of an aggressive rider might help, and vice versa.
So in my mind, especially at the age of 16, I'd say you shouldn't listen to music on the bike, we all know it will be rock/rap/whatever.
It's not that you wont hear other people on the road, that's not really essential and you'll hear important things anyway. It's more the state of mind it puts you in.

It's not just about self control. Listening to music affects what you're doing. There must have been tests to show how music affects your attitude/mood.
Anyways, I know I used to be affected by it alot more than I am now, and I find it hard to believe it doesn't affect you at all. Good on you though if you're never affected at all by things around you |

i ride with my ipod shuffle and sony earbug earphone pritty must all the time (except when with other bikes, dont know why) and find it helps me concentrate and not get bored (i ride 25 miles each way on my normal route to college or work) would recommend it ONCE you have some experience on the roads, did about 6 month on a moped with nothing (no music that is)...helped me be more aware i found.
if your a new biker limit it to out of town areas only  ____________________ 99 RS125 --> 02 SV650s --> 03 Speed Four --> 92 RXS100 --> 93 CB400sf --> 01 CB600f Hornet |

if you are finding the scooter boring, get it derestriced, much safer and much more fun than an Ipod ____________________ Looking for Honda NS125R parts?

I use the iPod with an Autocom unit to give music while riding. Can't hear anything reliably anyway over my can and wind noise
I sorta helps with pace and concentration too. Can't really explain it, but its like having a metered frame of reference while riding. (Told you I couldn't explain it )
DON'T be using an iPod Video while riding though eh !!
