You dont relise how much you love having a bike til its gone

Ok, ive just got to work (about 45mins ago but had to set up things, talk, etc etc) and just had to cycle!!! Was about <not sure but lots of> miles at 7.15 with no gloves!! couldnt feel my hand when i got here and was nakered, took 40mins when it take about 10 on bike, had tp cycle along a road that ive hit a ton on before going a grand speed of about 15mph on the bicycle!!

Since ive not had a bike, things that changes:
Feel much less independent
Started asking for lifts again
Have to get the bus to college 5 days in a row (normally take it 2 days a week and ride 3 days)

Also cyclist treated with no respect on the road!!! Hate cars even more!! Also keep telling my dad hes not do things right when hes driving (signals on rounabout/junctions) and i get this "in advanced motor they tell you" but he did it years ago and think he thinks hes a good driver when really he isnt.

Anyways, the point of this thread is, how do you cope when you dont have a bike?

no left them at my house, was at a friends as i had to stay over as work 25miles away, fine when you have a bike to take you back but had to stay at friends. Was thinking that all the way here why i didnt bring them!!

Bah I've not had me bike for 3 months now , I felt all the things you did in your list and I felt a right bum , bumming lifts off people and my range has gone down to 8 miles max , takes friggin 90 minutes to go 8 miles on the bus and costs me more than it does equivilant in petrol , roll on Dec 24th though when I get her back...

insurance, dont want to have a really fast bike, need somthing that can do lots of miles with a bit of conforts, like the idea of a V-twin then in a few years get a IL4

try being at college with a part time job!! i have been saving so hard latly been living of nothing pritty much and it sucks!! will all be worth it soon though!lol

lol, great story (how you described it, not what happend as that was quite unfortant) i though you mean taken away as in the back, not wrote off! did you buy another after that one as i remember you selling a RVF recently?

just read and was a NC30, RVF was NC35 wasnt it?

Cheers Andy , yep, after the NC30 'went', I had a 6 week stint on a hired SV650. That had to go back after the insurance paid out, which I used to buy a CBR400 Gullarm. Nothing wrong with the bike, but I missed the V4 400s too much, so traded that 5 weeks later (for £500 more than I bought it for ) later for the RVF (NC35).

All the work that I'd done to the RVF over the following 9 months was trying to make it into the memory of my NC30. In my view, it never got there as the 2 bikes were kinda different. Once I felt that my work with the 400s was finally complete, I sold the RVF for a silly amount of money and bought the Blade.

even though the feeling of departing with the bike was still with me once the RVF had gone (and I do miss it, in a way - especially when looking back and seeing a couple of pics of it for the first time in 6 weeks or so) it wasn't as bad as having a bike 'taken away' from me like the NC30 was.

I've never ridden an RS125, only a TZR - so I can understand the appeal. From my 6 weeks on the SV650 though, I can say it's a fun bike to own and very capable/practical aswell. I think I might even buy one over a Hornet (I've used Dad's a few times) as it has more character. If you get around to buying one yourself, I don't think you'll be disappointed - they're great first big bikes.

yea hopfull have one but end of this month, i have one in mind at the moment and e-mailing to arrange a veiwing so could be as soon as next weekend, really missing riding after 4days!!lol
