Matching tyres

Just a quick question - I've just ordered myself a new bridgestone rear tyre, but I've got a pirelli on the front. There's a bit of life left on the front, but do you think I should change it, as well? That way they'll match, which looks better, but more importantly, the bridgestone is meant to be a good tyre, too..

Am I just wasting money, or is it worth spending an extra £37 to replace a tyre with life in it with a "better" tyre? The rear is only costing me £44 and I can get the matching front one for £37...

Get matching tyres otehrwise you'll get confusing feedback from the front and the rear of the bike plus the bike won't handle in a predictable manner should you find yourself in trouble.

ive got a Pirrelli Diablo Corsa front and a Rennsport rear, done a trackday with em like that and i cant say i noticed and i was giving it some.

Suck it and see...Basicaly you won't know till you try them. I have run different brands (with the same speed rating) font and rear loads of times with no problems. There is no way I am throwing a perfectly good tyre away just so they match. The manufacturers only say keep the same brand so that you buy the tyre off them.

I doubt you'll notice it on the road, especially this time of year when you're not pushing very hard. Only rule I'd stick to is not to have a sticky tyre on the back and a hard one on the front, you want as much or more grip on the front. As long as the profiles are similar you should be ok.

Can't remember the last time I had matching tyres...

I wouldn't worry about it as much as the tyre manufacturers would like you to.

Occasionally people do have problems with mismatched tyres. Personally I have had mismatched tyres loads of times, and only once has it ever not been fine (RS125, doesn't seem happy with a Michelin front and Dunlop rear).

I once had a Dunlop D208zr at the rear and a D218 on the front. Worst two weeks of my life. Honest.
