Well I am the proud new owner of a RS125 that I am using to learn on before my direct access. It’s a 2000 model and not too bad condition really...

Just a couple of things I’m going to have a crack at fixing today and wondered if anyone could give me a few ideas what could be the problem:

1. The Rev counter doesn’t seem to be moving at all, the bike runs fine just the Rev counter doesn’t move, and being a first bike I need all the help I can get so this needs to be fixed!

2. The left indicator doesn’t seem to function, (hopefully this is just the bulb) but the right side seems to be blinking at an irregular pace.

Think that’s about it, Rev counter is my main worry... I have heard it is digital on my model of RS?? Any more help appreciated!

Thanks. Thumbs Up

not sure about the rev counter but the indicators i can help with, if one bulbs going faster than it should be it means the other bulb is blown Thumbs Up (the rev counter might just be a loose wire)

yes agree with timc, hasppened to mine a while ago about the indicators that is, changed the bulb and it was fine.
As for the rev counter, could well be loose cable, keep the bike going in neutral, and open the throttle a bit, at the same time just twiddle the rev counter cable to see if you can see it going.
All the best,
Baz. Thumbs Up

Thanks for all the help fellas, had it in pieces today and sorted the problems out:

1. The Rev counter had a load of loose wires and plugs from some previous bodge jobs I think...

2. The same with the indicators, loose cables and bad connections, cleaned them up and seems to be working fine, but do RS125 indys flash quite fast cause they seem to be flashing at quite a rate...

Anyway, job done!

Are the indicators original aprilia ones or aftermarket ones?

I found that when I put aftermarket ones on my old NSR, the flash rate increased. I had to buy a new relay to sort it out.

Well I have done a little bit more research and it seems the relay I need is a 4 x 23W 2 pin relay. Going to drop by a couple of automotive shops tomorrow and see if I can pick one up and solve my problem!
