A BMW R1100S 1998 with 7000 miles on the clock.
https://pictures.autotrader.co.uk/ATD_web/servlet/media?id=257741037

It was going for £3500 as had been massively reduced by the dealer since they've had it. It's got a Vanderlinde exhaust (complete with ECU) and came with 12 month dealer warranty (with breakdown cover) so I thought it was a bit of a bargain!
Test drive went well once I'd got used to the different switch gear and she sounds lovely. A sportier riding position compared to the Hornet but not uncomfortable.

Yes it's a BMW and no, I'm not over the hill - I'm 22! Razz

Might be hiding them in the topbox.

Nice bike I have to say, better than the tall GS ugly mofo's in my opinion.

Along with the emergency lantern, warning cone, extra wooly jumper and thermos filled with soup for when it's a bit nippy. Embarassed

But still...i think she's a nice looking bike and sounds lovely and at a price I can afford. Thumbs Up

Hopefully I'll be able to put some power rangers to shame too, that'll be a bonus.

Much nicer in black I have to admit...though it was two grand more expensive...

Hey different strokes for different folks, some people like the BMW's some don't. I like the newer models but if the bike goes and you want a comfortable ride then you got a good bike.

Some of their bikes are ugly, but the fact that BMW are uber reliabley could counter act that. Seen a few before and they can shift when pushed. When I was visiting friends in Linconlshire I took a picture of this guy at a junction...

Thought it looked quite good to be honest. Smile Thumbs Up

I think there is a great deal of envy when it comes to BMW motorcycles. A mate of mine recently bought himself an R1200GS. Since then me and my mates have done nothing but rip the piss out of him about how there is a steering problem- it veers towards Poland etc. etc.

Secretly, we all want one. I know I do.

Well bought - Nice one Milo Thumbs Up

You've bought at the right price which means if you like it (and why not) then great and if you decide to sell after a while you should get most of your money back!

Look good to me!

Take no notice of the p*ss-takers, Milo, as half of them would sell their left knacker for the performance of that bike.

Stinky: Veers towards Poland hahahahahahahaha! Thumbs Up

It's all good! I posted up because I know you're all a nice understanding bunch that wouldn't judge me on my purchases. Laughing Rolling Eyes

But seriously, it went like stink on the test drive and most would be jealous by the sound it makes.

Once I've got her I'll bring her out for a run with the South East bunch.

I'm interested to know what sort of price your paying on insurance. What your area's like, no claims etc. A rough price and in a PM if that's more suitable.

I'm 20 and thought they would be too expensive to purchase and in terms of insurance. I like anything that is a twin and not chain driven, and different. So Guzzi's and Buell's are up there too.

Cheers for any help, nice bike too. Thumbs Up

Nice one Milo.
I'm always very amused when I see jap sportsbike riders sneer at BMWs, and then desperately try to keep up Very Happy they may not have the outright horsepower but they have good midrange grunt, get their power down well, and handle well. They can cover the ground seriously fast when they need to! Add low depreciation and insurance costs, reliability and comfort etc, and they make a really good purchase second hand, especially at the sort of money you've paid!!! I reckon that'll work out at nearly free biking for a year or two!
