I was unable to start my bike after it dramatically cut out one morning at 70mph
Was unable to jump start (old battery was 'dead'), so bought new battery today.
Engine turns
Nothing else
Thought might be weak battery as brand new off the shelf..........jumped it...............still nothing
Could this be a spark problem? According to the manaul, to check the plugs:
remove the side pannels
remove air ducts
disconnect fuel tap
remove tank
This is well beyond my skills and capabilities to do.
I am worried I will have to get bike towed to a garage to be fixed. But, this is what a kwak garage said when I emailed them before christmas when I thought it may be the altenator (which I still haven't ruled out yet):
"Our best advise to you is to try and get your money back from the seller as the machine is not easily fixable and will probably end up costing you more than it is worth"
Would a mobile mechanic be any good?
Sorry for this flat battery / not starting question again, and again and agin.....thanks for all the help on previous occasions
Am tempted to get out a very large hammer...........you've been warned bike ____________________ Current : MSX 125 Past : CBR 900RR Monkeybike : c50 LAC : ZXR750 H2 : FZR600 : ZX7R P3 : YW100 : TRX850: Trophy 900 T309 : GSXR 600 L0: Monkeybike : XJ6S Whosthedaddy |

Kill switch 'off'
Engine makes 'turn over' noises' but nothing else.
Bike has been on side stand for 3 weeks or so, put fuel protection in when last filled up with petrol to prevent the jets becoming 'gumed' up.
I have got 3/4 tank of petrol before anyone asks ____________________ Current : MSX 125 Past : CBR 900RR Monkeybike : c50 LAC : ZXR750 H2 : FZR600 : ZX7R P3 : YW100 : TRX850: Trophy 900 T309 : GSXR 600 L0: Monkeybike : XJ6S Whosthedaddy |

I had a similar problem with my bike, try the spark plugs, shouldnt be too hard, if they are sparking then it might be the ignition coil is too weak to spark under pressure as i found with mine, shouldnt be expensive to pick a new one up, what bike is it? have you found that the engine idle has started going fast recently (2stroke)
If you have got a spark warm the plugs, pour a little petrol down the hole where you got the plugs bang it back in an give it a whirl. You should be able to find your problem quite easily if you know what you are looking for. ____________________ Judd - Hornet 600 (restricted) Micron Can, Belly Pan, Custom rear end, Single seat cowl, need to sort front end out e.g. headlights and USD forks... |

Sorry James, just wrote you a (long) email and deleted it instead of sending
Summoned up the courage to start to strip the bike down, easier than the manual states Unfortunately, its pissing it down and I got fed up with getting wet
One quick question, if I haven't asked enough. Is this the only line that I need to disconnect and clamp from the fuel tap?
The tank is 3/4 full, what position should the tap be in as I dont want my feet to be washed in gushing petrol ____________________ Current : MSX 125 Past : CBR 900RR Monkeybike : c50 LAC : ZXR750 H2 : FZR600 : ZX7R P3 : YW100 : TRX850: Trophy 900 T309 : GSXR 600 L0: Monkeybike : XJ6S Whosthedaddy |

As far as Im aware, it doesn't have a stand cut off switch, have tried both up and down, clutch in out. Tried starting in gear (clutch in) and bike lurches forward
Thanks for tip about turning tank
The power was lost after a couple of backfires at speed, top gear, lights on. When parked in lay-by, the parking lights, oil and neutral lights still worked
The turn over with the new battery sounded good, just needed the 'vroom vroom' with the twist of the trottle ____________________ Current : MSX 125 Past : CBR 900RR Monkeybike : c50 LAC : ZXR750 H2 : FZR600 : ZX7R P3 : YW100 : TRX850: Trophy 900 T309 : GSXR 600 L0: Monkeybike : XJ6S Whosthedaddy |

take it from an AA Patrol first check for spark at plug,if no spark then work your way back through the system i.e coil-cdi- switches feeds etc.do the same for the fuel system start at the end and work your way back. You will need a multi-meter and a circuit tester, dont use a bulb lit circuit tester, use an led type,as a bulb lit tester could damage delicate components.I hope i am not being patronising but simply pulling random switches and things apart is a very long winded method !!

Its alive!
Moved the tank backwards exposing a very attractive engine
Realised that I couldn't remove the spark plugs with the socket used for a car (too big), firmly placed HT leads back. I then tried to start the engine, thought what the hell...............it farted.
With quick haste, the tank was secured again.........turned the key..........fart.................nothing.................fart and started
Didn't actually do anything as far as I'm aware
Sped round the block a few times to make sure the battery put in yesterday has something to go on
I feel that reliability will be an issue Thinking of riding bike tonight to work...............hmmmmm............feck it, yes!
Thanks for everyones suggestions and helpfulness ____________________ Current : MSX 125 Past : CBR 900RR Monkeybike : c50 LAC : ZXR750 H2 : FZR600 : ZX7R P3 : YW100 : TRX850: Trophy 900 T309 : GSXR 600 L0: Monkeybike : XJ6S Whosthedaddy |

Sounds like you had a kink in the tank vacuum hose moving the tank may have removed the offending kink? just a thought,Lee ____________________ FJ1200 The ultimate tourer |

Short lived celebrations
Bike was doing so well cruising along. Then just passed where the same thing happened a couple of weeks ago..............dial lights went out.........down shifted to go down slip road...............backfires and farts.................all power gone....................indicator lights not flashing on dash (remians constant orange)....................lights very dim...............engine wont turn over
Yet again, my bike is at the side of a road and at the mercy of those bastard gypos
Hopefully I will be able to jump it in the morning, or push (yes up hill) to a motorcycle garage about 800 yards away for diagnosis.
I think its something electrical
Watch ebay for it 'spares or repair, any offers' ____________________ Current : MSX 125 Past : CBR 900RR Monkeybike : c50 LAC : ZXR750 H2 : FZR600 : ZX7R P3 : YW100 : TRX850: Trophy 900 T309 : GSXR 600 L0: Monkeybike : XJ6S Whosthedaddy |
