Take it steady for about 300 miles, I'd up the oil pump ratio a little as well but it's not vital if you go steady.

ive heard its helpfull to add some 2-stroke oil into the tank, so you have the extra lubrication for the run-in period

i denied that , it's helpfull to add oil only when you have some air in the oil pipe in case of direct oil injection , otherwise it will more carbon in you cyl head & exhaust

normally 50% of your red zone , the time is function of what you have changed in your top engine

the risk is to break piston or rings even the barrel or the crank
if the max speed of this bike is 70 mph the red zone should be at 60 and your running in must be around 30 mph

If you want to get the most out of your bike in the long run, yes. You should fully bed in the new kit before even attempting to give it any abuse, that includes accelerating hard. Thumbs Up

you can do that progressively
first 100 miles 30 mph
next 100 35 mph
last 100 40 mph
and for 2 or 3 seconds no problem if you go 5 mph more

its also a good idea to not ride your bike and let it idle at low revvs for say 30-45mins with the ocassional slight pull of the throttle, as the first couple of hours is the most vital

You sure?

The rings need to be worked to bed in to the bore properly. Running it for extended periods without putting it under any load will tend to just run the rings up and down the bore without doing much other than glazing the surface and overheating.

By all means do make sure it is warmed up properly before you start, but I wouldn't leave it idling for too long.

I'd ride it normally myself. As Mchaggis points out you do need to stress the rings to get them to seat.

Hi

I pretty much ride normally, just slower and not using the higher revs. Vary the throttle, do not leave it just idling (about the worst thing you can do) and do not strain it (eg, don't try going up hill in top with the engine shuddering). Revs wise I use half the red line as a guideline.

All the best

Keith
