Ok so i have been looking for a bandit or hornet for a little while now, and when i came accross this one (CLICK) i thought great, just what i was after, nice tidy clean bike with a few extras and a restrictor kit, for just over £1000 perfect
So i told my mate who has a bandit and rented a van for sunday so we could go, he could check it out for me and we could bring it back
Sunday morning we set out early, got there at 9am, as soon as he took the cover off i thought to myself what a lemon, the front mudguard was a diff colour to the rear and the tank was a completly diff colour the rest of it, orange rust on nearly every metal part of the bike, the brake/clutche levers were badly corroded and half snapped off, it was a compete wreck nothing like what i had bidded for on ebay, and to top it all off it didnt start and in trying the battery gave in
So i said to him straight, it looks nothing like the pics on ebay the tanks a complettly diff red to the rest of the bike ( at which point he looked at it as if he hadnt noticed ), and not what you described, we jumped back in the van and headed home, we worked out that the pics must have been atleast 6 months old if not more, most likely when he put the exhaust on and a few red anodised bits and then run it in to the ground as soon as the pics were taken. The pics didnt resemble the bike we saw one bit
ok it was a waste of £50 for the van + diesel money but a lesson learnt and i have gotten over it, so back to the search on ebay, and what do i come across but the same fucking bike CLICK
This time he has mentioned a slight fading to the body work, ye thats a fucking understatement!!
also nothing about the rust on the forks/ broken leaveres and smashed bar ends, Just makes my blood boil knowing someone is gonna see the pics think ye thats a nice bike and when they get there be disapointed and out of pocket!
so just a warning to everyone out there, make sure the pics are up to date if your thinking of buying somthing from a seller description and see on a screen |

I don't think Ebay is better or worse than any other medium e.g. Autotrader or your local press.
I bought my bike of Ebay and it's an absolute cracker. You should always be prepared to walk away, until you hand over the cash no ones been diddled. Check the spec, engine numbers etc etc get the reg and HPI it if necessary if it's not right don't buy it !!
Don't be put off Ebay just do all the usual checks as you would with any private sale, for every dodgy dealer there are hundreds of genuine people out there and touch wood I've never had any issues everyone I've dealt with has been sound as a pound but I always use caution

I bought my nc30 off ebay, but i went to see it first.
It was okay, but some stuff needed doing to it.
The seller said it had been serviced etc....
Got it home, oil was stinking, air filter wasnt changed.
But a cracking little bike.
I've also got someone coming from up north to buy the cbr125r on the weekend which he saw on ebay,so hopefully he'll be pleased with it. ____________________ Ducati 916,white framed corse replica https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=239309

Well personally I would be wary of any seller who describes his bike as having "medications" when I assume he means modifications...... ____________________ Sod falling in love, I wanna fall in chocolate. |

As said already there is no problem bidding on an unseen bike on Ebay, it's when you pay for it before you see it when problems will and can occur.
My bike was advertised on ebay, although I didn't bid on it. My last bike was also sold there and paid for up front which I though was mad but who was I to argue
If you bid on a bike and go to pick it up and pay for it do not be afaid to walk away if it is not as described. Big deal you might get a negative feedback but thats it. Better that than being a few grand out of pocket. ____________________ the undemocratically unelected mod of the Scottish section |

You also have to be carefull of buyers. I had one person come and view the bike before she put in a bid. She won the auction, came to pick it up, and then said she wasn't having it because she didn't realise it had been repainted. Anyone with a semi-working visual cortex can recognise it's not the original paintwork. ____________________ https://www.bikepics.com/members/fuzzbcf/

My first bike was bought via ebay. I had intended to view the bike before the bidding ended, but couldn't get there in time.
Won the bid, went round and picked it up. Took cash, bike looked ok so paid.
If they bike hadn't matched with the pics on ebay would of walked away.
Paid £1k, then traded it 4 months later for the same amount. ____________________ When riding fast, think fast. When riding slow.. speed up.
