strange thing happening to my gearbox oil?

i have a dtr 125 and i have just got a new water seal because last week loads water was getting into the oil and it was constantly white.and i have just fitted it and when i put the oil it it looks normal but when i start it after a couple of mins it turns a creamy colour then i knock the engine off and leave it for an hour or so and then look at the oil and it is back to the normal colour does anyone know what this could be and will it make the oil not lubricate as well as it should please help me.

it is the water pump seal that i have got recently and last week i bought a head gasket but the water hasnt gone down after running for about half an hour do you think it could be some of the water still in the engine from when the water seal went.

It will still be there. You need to change the oil + filter.

which filter as it is a 2 stroke and only has an air filter

It'll be in the workshop manual.

Please tell me you have a workshop manual and were following it when you took the water pump off. Smile

yes i have the workshop manual and followed it when fitting but i have just been looking to see if it says anything about the oil filter in the manual and i cant find anything?

There isn't an engine on the planet that doesn't have an oil filter. I don't know where yours is I'm afraid. But it has one.

Look under routine maintenance, oil change. Most likely it will be either a screw-on car type, or a paper cartridge type which goes behind an engine side-casing.

Follow the instructions carefully. A common mistake is to overfill with fresh oil, which can cause damage.

2 storkes rarely have oil filters as such, normally a peice fo gauze to trap dirt, same as small 4 strokes some only have a small peice of gauze......cbr125, aerox 100, aerox 50 etc etc

I have made a cock-up here then. On my bold comment above I took off the "if only a gauze on the pickup" that I originally posted as I thought it might be confusing.

But there's no escaping the result - which was suggesting looking for paper type, which is wrong. Sickpup is quite right.

Hopefully I can redeem this with my "Follow the manual" suggestion. Wink

Ah but a lot of 2 strokes don't have a gauze filter on the pickup as they don't even have a pickup. A lot of 2 strokes don't even have an engine oil pump but rely on splash.
