Nope Sad

Evertime I use bike cover, the mirrors move and the next time I ride I am constantly adjusting the mirrors.

I alter them to see behind me in one position, lay on the tank when riding, and cant see feck all Confused

I suppose thats why they call it a life saver check before turning Thumbs Up

I took them off my 750. but have kept them on my track and (wrecked) road Gixxer. There helpful for motorway/highway riding as they only thing they let me see are the oppisite lanes which is helpful. and when going round a corner I can see whats behind me.

Apart from that its all shoulders Laughing helps me make sure there clean Wink

But if you really wanna see whats behind you just turn look over your shoulder.

I am often fiddling with mine, I know just what you mean. I can never see right behind me just the rear sides but I imagine that most of us are the same, after all in a car you have the rear view mirror also on the screen that probably explains why you see more whilst driving.

I'm pretty lucky with my mirrors by the sounds of it, i can see pretty much everything behind me (standard RS125 mirrors) did take loads of fiddling with to get that view, but they are as good as gold for me.

After the mirrors on my 125 finally succumbed to being dropped too many times and stopped being held in place by superglue, inner tube, mastic cement and various other bodges, I got some with longer arms. Now I get a perfect view of the road with no elbows in at all. They do look a bit daft though. Laughing

Got the standard mirrors on my ZZR400 and they're just as good (better on occasion) as the car mirrors. Can see everything, having a big fairing to attach them too helps quite a bit i reckon. Handlebar-mounted ones make me feel like I've just woken up (fuzzy view)

interesting replies,it does make a bit of a "joke" of all the DAS training i did where they say you should constantly check mirrors, whats the point if you cannot really see anything.Like i said on the GS500 the rear view was pretty good.
I do find it a bit strange now not having the same rear vision,i know about lifesavers, blindspots etc but it is nice to know if for instance there is a car right up your ass as you cant always hear them Exclamation

Mirrors are really there to avoid inconveniencing and confusing others in most situations, for timing indicators(or knowing to have to use them at all - it should be second nature to indicate really) a lot of the time. A life saver is essential if you're moving position and stand a chance of hitting something in your blind spot.

Of course, using a mirror carefully is also important for changing lanes, especially if you're moving into a filtering position. No-one is going to thank you for pulling out into them filtering because you didn't look behind rather than just beside you. They're also important for overtaking, don't always assume that no-one is trying to overtake you before you move across the line to overtake yourself.

really crap mirrors will save your life.
mainly because you will have to look over your shoulder before doing a manoeuver or you will die.

My mirrors are fine, it was the first thing that I noticed when I took a ZX6 out for a test ride.
The guy at the garage was in a great mood when I told him that.
"Not the power or handling, the mirrors !" Laughing

Never had any problem with the mirrors fitted to handlebars on bikes I've ridden (CG125 and CB500), but its the fairing mounted ones that are a real pain.
My bike has an aftermarket fairing on it (which was fitted by a previous owner), which meant that the handlebar mounted ones didnt fit anymore. I have used four different sets of mirrors (its a long story...) before I got ones that actually allowed me to see more than my elbows. Replica Honda CBR600F mirrors - fantastic. If anyone else has a Powerbronze Colt fairing - they are the ones to get.

It all begs the question - why are so many bike mirrors useless? Unless I am very much mistaken, there arent any rockets involved, and not much science, so why do bike manufacturers continue to get it so wrong so often?

Cheers, Alfie
