It tends to be up on the right hand side of the headstock (if you were sitting on it) Wink

If its not there, im sure all you can do is buy another frame with a V5 Confused

Afraid I have no idea on this. I was looking for the frame number on my bike recently (to fill in the datatag forms). The registration number (obviously) and engine numbers were easily visible but for the VIN/frame number I went back to the V5 (doesn't help you).

A quick search suggests that some manufacturers stamp them on the frame near the steering head (on the R side).

A Vehicle Identification Number (VIN or chassis number) is required on all vehicles first used on or after 1 August 1980. except those which are
. kit cars
. amateur built vehicles
If a VIN cannot be found the vehicle presenter should be advised of the likely location of the VIN and to thoroughly search for the number with the aid of the registration document. If following this action the VIN cannot be found the vehicle presenter should contact the nearest Vehicle Registration Office.
If more than one different VIN is found, the vehicle presenter should contact the nearest Vehicle Registration Office.

It's probably still there on the headstock but painted over enough to hide it (i have seen this loads of times on old bikes) definatley worth rubbing the headstock down to see if it's there.

Just use some wirewool, or mediumish wet and dry. Unless go mad with something heavy-duty you will not sand away the frame number.
