Probably the wrong forum to place a car question, but here goes! I originally posted it on a VW Scirocco forum before anyone asks what a 'Rocco is.
Hi all,
Been given a company car/cash allowance at work - great!
Unfortunately, because of the rules, i can't use the 'Rocco - arse!
So, at the moment i'm using the company Nissan primera 1.8 - which frankly is the dullest car i have ever driven! It has all the handling and acceleration of a large oil tanker.
I've decided to take the cash allowance and am looking for a decent exciting car that i can get - here i would welcome any suggestions.
The conditions are:
No more than 2.0 petrol or 2.5 D.
Must be 6 years old or less.
Must be 4 seat - although can be 2door
Must have reasonable boot space for equipment/tools.
Budget is about 8K max.

I'm an 'enthusiastic' driver, and need a replacement for the joy of Rocco handling and enterntainment.
In 1st place at the moment is the Nissan 200sx, any other ideas?

Suggestions welcome.

Or perhaps one of the last e36 bmws. You could pick up a 320i for less than 8k easily. But i think you have the best one already, 200sx, awesome car. Thumbs Up Nissan reliability and fun to drive. Cool Might need shares in dunlop though..... Wink

You lot would hate me for this, but for keeping the driver entertained while keeping to your criteria, I suggest an early 1999 (E46) 320 (petrol) saloon, try and get a sport model too for that bit extra driver involvement.

Avoid anything below the 320 as you wont be getting the six cylinder motor, which BMW excels at.

Problem there being that the E46 320i is 2200cc, and his limit is 2000cc.

Saab 9-3. 2.0L turbo petrol.

Should get a nice post 2000 model for £8k.

In fact a quick search on auto-trader brings up some good examples.

There's even a '03 9-3 1.8t petrol for £8K which looks a stunner.

But then I have a thing for Saabs.

I'd go for a Golf GT-TDI 150.

My Mrs has one and it goes like stink for a diesel. It has 232lbft of torque, grips really well and averages nearly 50mpg! Shocked

Leaving boy racers behind in a cloud of diesel smoke is great fun! Very Happy

Why dont you do something crazy? Get a kit car. I had one once, and it was absolutely fabulous. Fantastic speed, great handling and looks that would have everyone on the streets drooling. Had to sell because of a pay cut.

A kit car isn't exactly suited to business motorway miles.
