Wierd disc shape

Why are the holes on my disc in such a stupid position. I would have thought they would have put them equally spaced to balanced it but this seems random.
Any ideas why they do this?

they look to be like a hand made job with a drill, obviously they got lazy and couldn't be arsed to create a perfect job.



correct me if i'm wrong but won't certain parts of the disc get cooler than the rest of the disc possibly causing warping?

U might wona get a new brake disc... I no that alot of racing brakes spend years and years of testing to make sure there getting the right perfomance from the brakes, u cant just put holes anywhere.

Looks hand done to me, what bike is it off? as rear discs arent always drilled.

Might be to do with drying the brakes more efficiently. The irregular holes might allow the water to be disposed of easier in some parts of the disc, giving better wet braking there, while on the parts of the disc with fewer holes, dry braking is improved.

Also, they are arranged so that 720 degreees of turning gives a full sequence of the holes. So this means while one sequence is at 360 degrees, one has just finished and one is just beginning (if that makes sense). dmahon's post should simplify it for you.
