Bike fell over some time last night.......

Heya, got woke up by my dad this morning at 8am as he came in to tell me my bike was on its side out the front of the house. I jumped out of bed, ran outside in the rain in my boxers and picked it straight up. Gave it a quick look over and fortunately there was only a scuff on the hand guard and on the handle bar end, thankl god i chose a crosser.

Just wanted to know, as it could have been on its side for 8hours or so, will anything engine wise of been damaged, fluids leaking etc, it was raining a lot and there was petrol spill in the gutter, so what should I check?

First off, unlucky man, I know how you feel as my crosser went over a while ago in similar conditions, the sidestand wasn't too good. Fortunately it escaped with minor scuffs and a broken gear lever. If it was an RS50 it would have been so broken

All I can think of is to check the crank casing for any damage, hole etc (which I doubt there'll be) and just leave it for a few hours upright to let all the fluid return to it's normal position. It's likely that only the engine is flooded and not much else, in my experience.

If it starts ok it should be fine.

Are you sure it fell? Or could it have been an attempted theft? They often go out on the rob on windy nights to disguise the noise.

Well is wud of fell over as i wont even say how rediculously easy it wud be to steal my bike. Had no locks on it last night, and the fact u can turn the ignition with a penny well i got it upright, left it for 5 mins or so, started 2nd kik, im gunna give it another check over for cracks and stuff like that, but yer if it was an rs50 thats like 200+ damage, lol. Sportsbike fools

edit, from now on its gunna be garaged every night with all 6 locks I have

tell me about it, lol, oh well, there was no damage done at all but my bike is running like a bag of shit at the moment. its running like it did when it needed a new spark plug, not sparking properly and missfiring all the time, will barely run at all, and when it does get going it does the old jerk as if you ran out of petrol, just jerks along.

What do you think this could be? my guess is shit loads of water as it was on its side all night in the pissing rain...Im guessing leave it a few days to settle and dry off?

Possibly the engine oil has been sloshed to one side of the engine? I know if you leave a bike sat for too long, the oil tends to 'pool' at the bottom, so you should start it every week or so. It could be that.

Otherwise, being on its side could have brought up some sediment, so perhaps flushing your tank is in order. Might as well shove some Redex in there too.

If it's running like it did when your spark plug needed replacing, it's probably worth checking the spark plug too.

good point, what is this redex stuff? is that the stuff to remove water from the petrol? or am i way of the mark with that guess?

i think it flooded over through the carbs so try tomorrow & it SHOULD be how it was before(however that was)

other stuff has proberly been sloshed around but the flodding would be the main issue 100%

Redex flushes crap out of your carbs, it's a good policy to use it every couple of weeks. Cheap too. It's my generic cure for anything mechanical.

when did you last try it? like how many hrs ago? & was it still shitty?

cause when iv dropped mine it flooded & i had to leave it for about 15-20mins & it was BETTER then it kinda went

cant you take your airbox off the carb/s & see/listen to see if its hissing or bubbling?

my RX50 fell over aswell .. do you have a center stand because thats what i believe is the main problem with windy days... i managed a cracked back ferrin and tail light . As im a girl i have many boy's to run arround after me and fix it

Perhaps some water in the petrol tank? That isn't very good for it I am told. Maybe drain it and get some new fuel.
