finaly im 17!!!!!!....had my rxs 100 a few months getting it ready for today and i went to start it and it took quite a few kicks. it will only fire with no throttle and a bit of choke, thing is if i touch the revs it dies. i have to keep the choke on and move it to keep it running for a while before i can touch the revs. this happens even if i leave the bike to stand for an hour. any ideas?. is the fact that the bike is running rich anything to do with this? the bike runs great when its going and starts easy when warm

Well start by replacing the spark plug, very cheap and eliminates that possible problem.

Seeing as it runs fine when warm and awful when cold, that suggest that the mix is, if anything, a bit lean. This will be exaggerated by the cold weather of late. You could try making the pilot mixture a touch richer. Turn the pilot screw OUT (anti clockwise) by a half turn and see if that helps. When the weather gets warmer youll probably want to screw it back in as it will run rich in the warmer weather.

So you start it by putting the choke on and kicking it over. It starts and you need to leave the choke on for a while before you can touch the throttle?

Doesn't sound like anything out of the ordinary to me.

Remember you don't need to kick it over very hard. More pressing down on the lever a few times rather than booting it over. That sort of bike usually starts third kick.

You switching the fuel off when you park it up?

you would need to rejet if you go with a k&n filter, but i dont think you will gain much unless you do other mods like exhaust?
Id leave it standard Smile

i had someone do the bearings, you have to heat the crankcase up with oxy - ascetalyne which i dont have,

The h100 looks very similar. ive never owned a RXS100 but just look at the pics Smile

There is a fair bit of difference between an H100 and an RXS100. The RXS has disc-valve, crankcase induction. The H100 has piston porting and reed valves.

I wouldn't go fannying about with K&N filters until you are sure the bike is running perfectly in standard trim.

the metal expands under the heat, not holding the bearings in as tight

You can fit main bearings by putting the crankcase in the oven till it is 'Jesus hot' (touch it and you will know how hot this is) and the bearings in the freezer. You then quickly seat them and tap them in square using a big socket and extension bar on the outer race.

From previous experience, it is best to do this when your mum is out all day because you will get your head to play with if she finds you with half an engine in her oven.

Or you take the crankcase halves and your new bearings along to a half-decent local garage and say "Excuse me mister, could you put these bearings in with your press please?" Then (most important) when he says there is no-charge, give him some beers, I would consider pressing main bearings into already prepped crankcase halves a 'four bottles of stella' job.
