currently, re evaluating buying such things, and working out how much i spend on some is quite disturbing, and not exclusive to bike magazines

considering cutting down on most, and taking out subscriptions on others as you can save up to 40% on some subscription offers

my monthly consumption of magazines often includes most of the following if not all

Air Forces Monthly (subscription)
PC Zone
PC Gamer
Combat And Survival
RAF Magazine (bought at work out of boredom)
T.W.O
RIDE
BIKE
any other bike mag that has a decent article

the PC games ones especially are expensive, because they come with DVD's of which i never use and for some reason i can never decide between the two which i prefer so end up buying both

similar with bike mags but leaning towards BIKE now as the other two have gone downhill big time

the others i get out of general interest, air forces being the most interesting, hence subscription

but at most you get maybe 2 hours reading out of each magazine, and for an average of 3.50 or more, thats an expensive way to pass time

but saying that, why is it we feel compelled to still buy them, as there is nothing in them really that cant be found on the net in more detail subject to searching around a bit, there just seems to be something "neat" or "complete" and satisfying about having it all in little articles in something you can hold, i cant work out the psychology of it

was just wondering what the rest of you guys buy, and not just bike magazines

although if you buy stamps monthly, or anglers digest you might wanna keep that to yourself

New Scientist most weeks, although haven't bought it for about a month - must go and buy it tomorrow.

It's a really interesting read and not all pure science, all very understandable and entertaining read.

I buy too many of em, dont realise how much you spend till ya go to throw the pile out.

Normally buy superbike and fast bikes along with the occasional bike, ride, performance bkes, theres the official liverpool magazine (subscription), and not a magazine but a copy of the sun everyday.

On occasions national geographic, some really interesting stuff in thier sometimes and lasts a good few hours

About bikes, I buy The Horse Back Street Choppers, UBG (occasionally) and 100% Biker (occasionally), and BSH (if I don't get a chance to read it in my mate Ray's khazi first, of course). And the odd hot rod magazine, depending on which cover catches my eye the most.

And also when I have to go out and buy fags or lunch for the girlies, I also have to buy Heat or any of those other stupid celebrity things ... but I just like to look at the pictures of celebrities getting fatter or skinnier.

Just for amusement/fluff, I occasionally buy Zoo or (whatever that other one is called) or one of the mens glossies ... cos I sort of grew out of Cosmopolitan and all those womeny ones, years ago. I don't care which of them I read, FHM, Loaded, whatever ... I just look to see which has the most interesting front-cover subjects.

I leave quite a lot of my magazines for the punters to read in the waiting room - saves em piling up at home ... things like Bizarre and (when I had a subscription) The Erotic Review ... Mind you, I notice the occasional copy of BSH that I leave in there get well-thumbed, too.

Sometimes I buy Home and Garden , Gourmet or that sort of older person twaddle.

And very occasionally, one of the computery type ones, just to keep my knowledge up slightly, or one of the playstation mags if they have interesting looking test games on the cover.

I like to pick up really obscure shit that I know nothing about and read those, to see just how much of it I recognise or understand. Sometimes it remarkable just what you learn about, even if you know fuck all about what they are going on about.

Guitarist (Probably going to stop getting this one soon though)

If I need something in a specific bike magazine I need (just bought Bike this month for insurance ads) or if there's a cool free gift I want I'll generally buy the mag if I have the cash in my pocket.

Performance Bikes
Micro Mart
BBC Focus, it's a science and technology mag. Geek I am.

I occassionally read Edge magazine. THis is by far the best games mag as it has a mature approach to the games industry. Other than that I too read new scientist (but have yet to develop an interest in quantum physics!), focus magazine and national geographic. I used to like FHM but its a steaming pile of cack now which uses tits, ass and football to sell itself. If I wanted T&A i'd buy penthouse
