What's all this then? Neutral

Did about 400 miles in the car yesterday going to Nottingham and back, to see Trivium at Rock City. (They put on one hell of a show by the way, who else has seen the metal version of Sweet Home Alabama? Laughing ) Anyway all went well, we got it out in about 2 and a half hours each way, car was great. Started first time this morning, and I went off to work. But halfway there I hear this 'fwup fwup' coming from the rear right wheel. I pull in to a garage to have a look and the damn thing's almost completely flat! Surprised

I was a bit puzzled by this, I'm sure it wasn't like that when I left. Almost sure, anyway. Rolling Eyes Thing is, I noticed it was a little flat the other day and meant to sort it before the Nottingham trip, but because I recently changed my brake pads and put the hub caps back on the wrong way, it meant getting to the valves on 2 of the tyres was impossible. So I never got round to it.

Luckily that tyre wasn't one with that problem, so I pumped it up at the garage and went on my way to work, knowing no mechanics would be open and planning to drive a pizza van home.

I get out after a 5 hour shift and the tyre is still hard, about as hard as it was when I pumped it up, I think. It will have to be confirmed with a pump at the garage again. Is there anything that could have happened to cause the tyre to suddenly go flat, but then stop it going flat again? I guess time will tell, if it's flat tomorrow morning I know I have a slow puncture or a nail. Sad

Any thoughts? Neutral

The nail that caused the flat was worn down/pulled out by the miles and the tyre re-sealed.
Tubless tyres have an inner tube built into the tyre for this reason.
But the fix will probably be temporary and will leak when the tyre cools down and you flex it again by driving.
Just a theory.
But get the tyre men to fix it properly if it can still be repaired.

Could be a faulty valve.

You can have a very slow puncture. It eventually reaches a point where there is not enough pressure to hold the beading against the rim properly at which time all the rest of the air escapes round the beading very quickly.

That sounds pretty synonomous with the symptoms I'm getting! I'll see what it's like in the morning. I'm selling it in a few weeks anyway, so I don't need to repair it if that's the case. Twisted Evil Shhh!
