What's all this then?
Did about 400 miles in the car yesterday going to Nottingham and back, to see Trivium at Rock City. (They put on one hell of a show by the way, who else has seen the metal version of Sweet Home Alabama? ) Anyway all went well, we got it out in about 2 and a half hours each way, car was great. Started first time this morning, and I went off to work. But halfway there I hear this 'fwup fwup' coming from the rear right wheel. I pull in to a garage to have a look and the damn thing's almost completely flat!
I was a bit puzzled by this, I'm sure it wasn't like that when I left. Almost sure, anyway. Thing is, I noticed it was a little flat the other day and meant to sort it before the Nottingham trip, but because I recently changed my brake pads and put the hub caps back on the wrong way, it meant getting to the valves on 2 of the tyres was impossible. So I never got round to it.
Luckily that tyre wasn't one with that problem, so I pumped it up at the garage and went on my way to work, knowing no mechanics would be open and planning to drive a pizza van home.
I get out after a 5 hour shift and the tyre is still hard, about as hard as it was when I pumped it up, I think. It will have to be confirmed with a pump at the garage again. Is there anything that could have happened to cause the tyre to suddenly go flat, but then stop it going flat again? I guess time will tell, if it's flat tomorrow morning I know I have a slow puncture or a nail.
Any thoughts? |

You can have a very slow puncture. It eventually reaches a point where there is not enough pressure to hold the beading against the rim properly at which time all the rest of the air escapes round the beading very quickly. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink.
