My Bandit is up for sale on eBay:

https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4623456322

I've started it at £2,400... I think that's a fair price but I guess only time will tell Smile

Too expensive mate.

Start the auction at say 99p no reserve and let them bid for it, you get more interest that way.

Thumbs Up

I can't afford to let it go for peanuts like things do so often lately on eBay. I've got it advertised elsewhere so it's not the end of the world if it doesn't sell - it's starting nearly £400 below book price though so it should get some interest.

FYI put it up for sale just before or after Easter. That's when people come out of their shells and start looking for something to ride through summer. Mind you, swings and roundabouts as everyone else will be trying to sell around that time as well.

Also eBay don't let you pass on the charge for PayPal costs anymore. Just mentioning it in case someone gets awkward.

HTH Thumbs Up

The Paypal fees are a fair point. It often does my nut to see people charging them... but in this case it seemed like a lot of money to lose potentially. In reality I expect any buyer would go for cash anyway, but it looks better if you offer a range of payment options I think.

I'll probably bung it straight back on eBay if/when it doesn't sell - Easter isn't that far away so I think it makes sense to at least have it visibly for sale. I'm allergic to reserve prices though, and as I mentioned earlier, it's not like I can set it away at 99p and hope for the best - if it sells for say £1500 I'm pretty much financially ruined Smile I could probably get more taking it to a Suzuki dealer and selling it to them.

Ah, cheating the system... always a good plan Smile
Of course, if my partner in crime ends up actually winning the auction then I have to pay final value fee on it, which isn't a tiny amount.

I've already bought the replacement (aaargh! cashflow crisis!) - this Monster (apologies for slow connection, that's hosted in my kitchen Smile) - off eBay.

No bids Sad

Do better with 99p and a decent reserve IMO

No, you can't. Remember tom, you can't end it after 12 hours before the auction is due to end.

You are wanting far too much for that bike.

To get a good idea of what the bike is worth look at auto trader / ebay completed listings.

I would only pay £2700 for that bike if I had a full dealer back up with it, which if I hazard a guess you are not offering.

I sold my 2004 BLACK (colour is important in this instance) Bandit 600 S for £2200 (ok this was in winter but it was black - not yellow).

For £2000ish a quick auto trader search brings me up quite a few nice low miles (8K) bandit 600's. From a buyers point of view I would not touch yours, its simply far too expensive.

Now if yours was on ebay with a £1500 starting bid and no reserve it has a VERY good chance of selling for the £2200 mark, which is what I would put the value at reasonably.

OK the BOOK price says X or Y but it means shit unless your a dealer.

If you object to this post I will quite happily remove it. Thumbs Up

I have no objection to your post dodsi, debate's the name of the game here Smile

I take your point, as you are somewhat more experienced in the used bike market than I am! I did do a few searches for similar age/mileage bikes in yellow on the Autotrader and MCN and found nothing under £2900 at that time - including private sales.

I think that there are so few yellow ones about that if someone specifically wants the colour, then the price I'm asking is pretty competitive.

I'll see how this auction goes - if it fails again then I'll consider going for a ~£1500 no reserve starting price.

I have been selling my ZX6R recently and trying to find a fair price for it.

Now looking on ebay some people are starting their auctions very high and no-one is bidding on them. I put mine up at £2600 ono and are taking £2500 for it.

A quick search of auto trader shows many bikes with more miles than mine and even older models (mine is a J1) for more money (a lot more £3000 +). But then some dealers are selling ones like mine for £3000 so mine is worth nothing like £3000 as I am not a dealer.

Oh and as far as the colour go's

I think yellow wont be a popular colour so wouldnt increse your price at all. Most people are like me and dont care too much about colour as long as the price is right (hence I have a green kawasaki at the moment Sick ).

I'd disagre with that, no normal person would spend 2k+ on a bike they don't like the look of.

Hi
I just sold my 2000 bandit on ebay, milage on the bike was 33000, so not mint, sold for £1220 whihc i was happy with, it started at like £600 on res, had like about 70 watchers by the end Very Happy

I dont think ebay is about how good your description is, its about getting as many people as possible to stick it on their watch list. starting at a high prices could cut alot of people out of the auction straight away.

Luke

The reserve is £2299 so the next person to bid will meet the reserve. The cheeky monkey who is currently high bidder actually bid £2320 earlier then retracted it, so presumably he is lurking (knowing the reserve price) for a last minute pounce...?
