its very unreliable
costs loads to insure and run.

like anything it depends what you compare it to

wave has a gsxr750 now so his old rs125 is slow in comparison

however an rs125 is the fastest streat legal (ish) 125 you can buy as long as its derestricted

they are a lot faster than 4 stroke 125's

the acceleration 30-80 feels similar to the acceleration you get on the kind of bike you do a DAS(full license) on er5 cb500. it handles a lot better in corners than an er5 though

however its true that they can be a bit unreliable if you dont know how to maintain them or you buy one thats poorly. and they are more expensive to run than a 4 stroke bike

i still have an rs125, but id probably suggest a dt125 as an L plate bike as they are still quite fast being 2 stroke but dont mind if they are dropped (no expensive fairings) and are more reliable

yea not bad, wasnt to bad insurance for me, expensive when the blow their engines (mine did, £600+ bill and now bike for 2 weeks)

but they are great handling and faster as 125s go, about 100mph top end (not sure real speed as this is indicated)

if your not good at mantainence then i would say not the best to start with as need a fair bit of attention.

If i was 16 turning 17 again id still get one Thumbs Up

I got an RS, I love it.

I think its fast as fuck untill i do a racing start next to a 600 and watch him pull away from me when hes at like 3,000 rpm.... Still beats most cars lough Thumbs Up

Good bike to learn on, and I think there pretty fun, on most country roads I get up to 6th gear and gear changing gets your blood pumping, Head mine up to an indicated 110 mph so it keeps up with traffic alright, powerband takes your breath away if your not used to anything faster than this.

Compared to my geared 50 it handles like a dream.

People say its unreliable but the only thing I had a problem with was an indicator relay blow at the moment and ive put about 4000km since I got the bike. And I thrash the bullocks off it pretty much everywhere.

People also say its a shit town bike but I have no problems with it, ok starting and stopping is a bit annoying as you need pretty high revs to get the thing rolling.

Top bike I think, there new 2006 model looks interesting.... totally differnt, more modern look.

i never really knew how my bike was feeling to me until i had a full engine rebuild. i was then able to work it from new to now. and i find rainy days the engine feels different to cold or warm days. good 6 months into owning my bike and i was able to gauge if its ok to rag the shit outta it after it running for 10min in summer. to not ragging it at all during winter as it doesn't feel healthy at all especially on cold days

Thats just the jetting, probably more richer in the winter ( i think.,.. ) so it feels slugish, mines like that as well

after a long ride on one, you can actually notice the depreciation on the engine.

after a long ride, the engine felt tired
you could feel the engine wear.

if anything my rs125 seems to get better with a long ride

its not really very happy on 20min runs but after an hour it starts getting perky.

I had one and loved it.
It was cheap for me to insure (i was 17 when i had it) and didtn cost me hardly anything to run.

after a 200 mile rideout when i first got it the next day it was never the same.
same happened again after the next rideout.
my opinion take it or leave it, avoid the bike like the plague, they are very expensive to run and insure and your getting crap speed for your money.

Get one if you have the money and don't mind fixing it when it does break if you want something easier on maintenance albeit not as quick get a 4 stroke of some kind.

If you want to stay with bike's get something cheap and do your full test.

the thing about it that annoted me was warming it up, say i was riding 10 mins to work. 5-10mins was spent looking at the temp gauge waiting for a not to bad temp then take it really easy. was not fun

The riding was good though on country lanes Very Happy

rs125s are fanatastic bikes, aslong as you keep it in tip top condition you should have very few probs with it (and i mean TIP TOP condition lol Razz ), however they were definately only built for summer. winter riding kills them (like most bikes). when i was on my er-5 (de-restricted) my mates rs125 was very close on to me on straights and absolutley hammered me through coners, those things are unreal through corners!! top speed i would say is no more than 100mph but they are real head turners, if you are screaming an rs EVERYONE turns round to see what it is! plus they are gorgeous looking/smelling Twisted Evil . end of essay Razz Thumbs Up Mr. Green
