hi my nc23 wont start. i was trying to get it started the other day which is a tough job sometimes because the bat is not too good but i did what ive done since i got it a couple of weeks ago. i hooked up my battery charger let it charge up and then thumb the starter button whilst still connected to the charger. however as usual it started then the revs dropped so i did it again now normally it would start up and run fine with no nasty knocks or rattles but this time it tried but wouldnt start nd then back fired. now i borrowed a mates jump starter pack but it still wont go. all the lights work fine and all that which leads me to think i may have killed something in the engine! there is petrol in the tank and the fuel tap is'nt switched off niether is the engine cut out switch. any ideas?

First thing, I'd worry you've maybe flooded the engine a bit.

So, if you've got juice in the jump starter I'd try starting it a load with no throttle or choke.
Presuming it doesn't start then, hopefully you've drained any fuel out if it was flooded, so trying starting 'normally'.

Fuel tap M8. The backfire is because it's running really lean.
The Hondas have a vacuum pipe on the fuel tap. If it has become detached or has split the fuel tap wont open and therefore you'll not get any fuel in the carbs. If the vacuum pipe is OK then I'd suspect the diaphragm inside the fuel tap has perished with the same result.
There is a modification that removes the vacuum part of the system. If you want' I'll get you the info on how to do it.
