CBR125 really not a bad bike.

Bought a new CBR125 in repsol colours with 5 delivery miles on for £1800 after having electrical problems with my nsr. The nsr would have cost £300 to fix so i decided to sell it and start again. Got more than i paid for it and started looking at another 2 stroke machine but my dad tried persuading me to have the CBR. I was sceptical but put down the depsoit anyway and when it arrived i was quite happy with it.

Once youve got it thorugh the running in period it really isnt a bad bike at all. Maybe not as fast as the nsr but i actually prefer it. The power delivery is smoother and as for economy thats second to none. Now i see people here going on about how s**t this bike is but it is an ideal learner legal and since getting it i decided to book my test sooner than anticipated because i feel confident riding it. If you want a good deal on one make sure you call George White Honda though they are cheap as. Just type it into google.

Ill probs get slated for saying the CBR125 is a good bike but it is really good for what it was designed for and i think better than the nsr.

Your entitled to your oppinion, however uou will find that a hell of a lot of people on here origianlly had NSR as a 125.

I prefer the NSR to the CBR for many reasons, the main ones being:
More comfortable for my 6ft2" frame.
Looks like a big bike with bigger tyres than the CBR.
Weighs a lot more than the CBR so gives an indication what a bigger bike will be like.
Can (and has) be derestricted to run at full power, potential to last longer if restricted to 33bhp.
Reliable, just need to keep on top of services and keeping the 2t oil topped up.
Will hold its money when i sell it as it has passed the major depreciation period for it. Whereas the CBR hasn't yet.

I loved my CBR125 . . . . it looked after me . . . but I had to move on. They are great bikes!

see im 6ft2 as well and thought the cbr would be well to small but it really isnt that bad. I loved my nsr it was a great bike and my first but when that electrical problem occured it pissed me right off. apparantely needed the genny repairing had a burnt out wiring loom and also needed a new reg/rec. I would have kept it and got it repaired but it would have taken weeks and i needed to get back and forth work and uni.

Im not saying the nsr is a shit bike cos i got a soft spot for it from being my first 125 and when the power kicks in at 8000rpm it just flies, got an indicated just over 90. I would have got one again but i paid 1800 for a brand new cbr whereas it would have cost me just under that for a used nsr. Plus it was also good to learn how to crash on. got hit off by two different cars. One who was in the wrong lane approaching a roundabout and another who hadnt defrosted his windows. And it still kept going with just a few scratches.

Anyway passed my theory and got my test on 18 April so can move on to a 'real' bike then. Cant wait. Hopefully a zxr400, restricted obviously Very Happy

I personally am a 2st lover, but I can understand people that that don’t like them.
They require a special kind of biking philosophy.
In my opinion the CBR is a very good bike to learn with.

the nsr yeh is faster..but if u want a fast bike and not 2learn on then go pass your test.as 4 the cg..it looks lik sumthin outa the 80s (lets jus ignore it).yeh the nsr is a class bike so it really doesnt mattr wether or not uve got it or the cbr..ther both good honda bikes! i personally hava a cbr but i would have been happy with either they both look and drive well. Smile

I'm about 5'11-6ft, small frame, I can't imagine anything smaller than my R6 now, the VFR felt like a toy bike compared I cant even begin to imagine how small the CBR125 would be.
