ok well woz gona take the gearbox oil i bought from the shop back as i bought the wrong one so i took my bike out in the garage. started it up and left it 2 warm up for about 3-4 min then i left my drive way . well i stoped for a sec 2 speek 2 my mum then i left again. toped at the end off the road then pulled out, as i whent round the corner my back wheel locks up and my bike cut out. pushed it 2 the side and it wouldnt start, when u try and start it u can hear the startor motor go lick click once and thats it. its not turning, does this mean my piston has seized? i can just about push the bike 2 try and bump start it Embarassed
thanks for any help

Sounds exactly like a seizure for sure.

The fact it's hard to push now also suggests it's towards the completely buggerated end of the seizure spectrum. Sorry!

My nsr broke down today too. Neutral I hear starter relay click after I push the start button, but starter motor doesn't turn over...
I drove it yesterday for more than 300km, was ok when I left it in evening. And now the bike just doesn't want to start for me. I packed my stuff, put all the gear on, went outside to the bike and couldn't go anywhere! Have all day-off ruined. I'm so mad that I'm getting another bike tonight Smile CBR250 Wink (I must be mental not just mad).

code guru - when it's not in gear, the engine's not spinning. that's the important clue!

Try agin once it's all cooled down. If not better, then it's probably engine in bitts time. I hope you bearings are ok.

Hit the nail on the head there - if you were lucky it might have been a partial seizure and some brute force (bump starting) may have freed it up and you could then remain blissfully ignorant of any damage to the bore/rings.

But because it's still resisting, you've probably melted something really quite badly. Look on the bright side - it's not completely seized, so you won't have to cut anything to get it apart!

I wouldn't count on not having to do the bottom end if I were you. You won't know for sure until it's in bits.

Toby - hopefully, the 200 quid kit includes a new barrel, head, piston rings and gaskets. Unless the NSR has an integrated barrel, then you're stuffed.

Happy Easter etc Smile

Surely not another case of "oversize piston kit badly fitted to knackered bottom end given 6 months to live" syndrome? Wink
