I'm resigned to it, then.

Ah well.

I can't see me doing another year to be honest.

I did Bikesafe ( recommended, by the way ) and the traffic copper didn't mention anything to me about having an A2 licence and a 600cc bike when they were checking documnets and roadworthiness.

They asked me if there was anything they should know about the bikes before we set off, I told them then it was 33ed. He asked how fast does it go? I said 90... So, I was a bit like.... Thinking

I would point out that on a bikesafe they are a lot more lenient than otherwise. They don't want bad publicity from people being nicked. So I would assume the worst they would do is tell you to go home if you were not legal.

If a crash investiagtion team managed to prove you were riding beyond your licence terms, things would probably be pretty severe. Though if that happened, you would probably in a pretty bad state yourself (they only investigate serious injury cases normally), and so would probably not even care what they did.

I never had any restrictors. I have been very good and ridden my <33bhp bike for the last (nearly) 2 years. Now that my restriction is almost up I have a new bigger bike in the pipeline (roll on 1/7/06! Very Happy ).

I kind of think that when they brought in the legislation they were hoping that everybody would do it my way, guess not huh?

To be honest though, and I'm sure I've said it before, for me the power of the bike was never an issue. It was the extra weight and learning to handle that that I felt I needed to work my way up to.

Mines still restricted after one year, but it's about time they fell out tbh.

I'm feeling that Jon.

A years well enough...

Almost everytime I ride it, I think, I wonder what this will be like without the restrictors. I'll find out in 12 MONTHS. Nah. It's not happening...

Wel after finding out I can handle my Dads CB1300 perfectly and loving the power I just want to take them out.

Unfortunately I have too much of a conscience, so whenever I ride i'll constantly be looking over my back.

I also think its about time mine came out, its not the top speed I'm bothered about, its more about that extra boost of acceleration to ensure I can nip past the car in front incase he/she decides to plant their foot down on the gas half way through the overtake...

... and I'm getting kind of bored with the power I have.

Nope, my 400/4 didn't require them, 37bhp at the crank, a lot less at the wheel, printout as proof as well.

Never got bothered on it, I guess all the coppers thought I was an old codger anyway. Lack of top end speed (and brakes) taught me to ride.

I should have done DAS. At the time I thought I'd only ever need a 125.

Then it bit me...

I would never have dreamed of taking out my 33bhp restrictors back when I had my old RS250 (4 yrs or so ago), they were smaller carb jets and washers on the exit ports.

But one day, about a month after buying the bike, I decided to clean the pipes and expansion chambers, and partially strip the carbs.

I must say at the time I wasn't that bike savvy, because when I took the jets out I accidentally put them in the box containing the standard ones. I must have knocked the box because they rolled around or something, when I put them back in I inadvertantly put the wrong ones in, obviously being less worldly wise than I am now, I didn't notice.

Also, the washers in the pipes fell out and were swooped on and taken away by a large, confused Owl, I was later told, I of course was unaware at the time, being a wide eyed newbie to all things bike.

I put the bike back together and took it for a ride. I did notice the change in performance, but I put it down to the fact that I'd filled the bike with Super Unleaded. Obviously if I thought that it was because the restrictors fell out, I would have happily paid the good filks at FI International another £150 to rectify the problem.

Spent the two years on my 125. Argue if it's legal or not if you like.

I'm in favour of a restriction period or SOME sort. Not the current one. Also think there should be something similar for cars.

I agree with the restriction period, but is should be only 1 year and more enforced.

Are none of you worried about what would happen if you had an accident. Insurance people will find anything to get out of paying up.

Has anyone had any bother about being caught with an unrestricted bike?

I done DAS so doesn't really apply but I'd be too worried to take the restrictor off. Confused
