Hi guys,

My ZZR400, having issues with the gearbox,

basically during harsh accleration it jumps out of second and third gear back into neutral, which isnt nice Sad

i think its load related as when i have a passenger this happens lower in the RPM range.

Is this a gearbox issue? Would i have to remove the engine to fix it?

all help appreciated!

Gears are fu*ked and its only going to get worst, plus its a full engine strip down to sort out.

very common on the ZZR600 and thundercat as well.

Oh dear.. yes its the old problem.. the part to fix it is 50p but it does as has been said require a full engine strip..

Theres a guide online somewhere on how to do it (try some zzr forums) looks straightforward enough just a bit time consumeing!!

Not 100% sure but i think its the selector forks? worth changeing them and the selecter drum, i think they come to about £60 or so..

Out of interest how many miles are on the clock?

If you do a rebuild then it will look good when you come to sell (or at least anyone who knows what they are looking for)

Good luck Thumbs Up

/The zzr600 lump is a good idea, 400/600 are almost idenicle appart from the 400's bore is smaller which makes the bike a sheeit load heavyer fromt he extra metal!
