hi all, just bought some carbon reeds for my ns125-r,.

Their flat, do they have to be put on flat as they are, as i'm sure when i had the reed block out, the original ones were slightly bent?

Thanks,
Baz. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Yeah mine are metal, but no-one beleives me that they are, so if their permanently bent, it means replacing?

And as the carbon ones are flat, i take it they open when needed?

Thanks for the quick reply code guru.

ok the reeds open when the piston goes down. carbon fiber one's open quicker than metal ones, the reed must be flat against your reed block but as yours a metal they might got bent because well when woz the last time u changed them? lol but they will open a lot quicker the carbon fiber ones so u will get a slightly better acceleration
bent reeds , i would replace them asap

Well i had the bike about 5 months now, and after a few days i noticed the inlet manifold was taped up, i took it off and there was a huge tear on both sides, i replaced that and decided to check the reed block and reeds, thats when i noticed they were bent.

The bike splutters at 5500rpm till 6000, then the power valve really kicks in.

Just wanted to stop that small splutter.

Thanks again,
Baz. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

When you say slightly bent are you talking about the actual reed or the metal bit that stops the reed from bending too far as in this pic?

You'll find that most NSRs do that in that part of the rev range. Nothing to worry about.

Yes the actual metal part, that is slightly bent(reed).

Its nearly as bent as that, i take it its normal then.

But i have some carbon reeds i am fitting tomorrow anyhow.

Thanks,

Those metal bits in that picture aren't the reeds. The reeds are smaller plastic things inside there if I remember right.
