I always have the problem that when I meet up with mates, have dinner with parents or something like that after a ride I'm really rushing and have problems listening to people and standing still.

It's hard to come back to normal life after going at 100 round country roads. So any ways you calm down after a ride? I find I usually have a rolly but I just get the shakes.

Strangely I do tend to. Most places I go seem to be at the end of fast routes.

Quick 5 knuckle shuffle will sort you out.

Failing that you could just enjoy the buzz while it lasts

Take five or ten minutes just taking off your kit and having a drink.

It usually takes me a while to get my bike in the garage too...

That being said, I'm rarely calm.

I agree, that's excatly how I experience it.

That said, I do take some time to say my bike goodbye after a ride.

After trying out top speed on the bike this morning (only hit 100mph, but popped a little wheelie too Laughing ) I got in all hot and sweaty, so sat down on the sofa with a cup of tea and a few chocolate digestives.

I wouldn't like to really ride like a maniac if I was going to dinner or something. There's nothing worse than arriving in a hot restaurant, already hot.

Drive within your abilities and it won't happen. Wink

Adrenaline junkies suffer from the same furring of arteries as someone on a high fat diet.

Do yourself a favour. Thumbs Up

I do drive within my abilities but only just, otherwise I wouldn't progress. Not saying I can corner like a pro cos I can't but always fun to test your self.

+ Can't believe that adrenalin furs your arteries.

I get quite hot after a ride - especially in summer or if I've forgotten to take my jacket liner out. Unzipping the top helps a little.

Maybe take onboard what the racers do - a nice cooling down lap around the local town, stand up wheelies, waving to the crowd as you pass them by....

I'm usually a bit 'wired' when i get back after a ride.
It's good to take a slow 30mph route back home along the seafront and through the village to cool down a bit before getting home into the warmth and wrestling to get your gear off.
I like the feeling of sitting down afterwards just staring out of the window, I sort of feel relaxed but hyped up at the same time.
I'll sit there for a bit, have a cup of tea and then when it wears off I'll wreslte the gear back on and go out again. it's quite a worrying pattern of behaviour! Confused

After a decent ride it's always fun to sit down and chill out with a nice big joint.

Big hill coming down into my road, about a mile of downhill straight. If it was quiet and hot, I'd stand on the pegs and unzip my jacket, to get a bit of cold air going for the last few minutes.

Almost threw me off when I did it with an unbalanced front wheel, mind Neutral

Last year I found I was having this problem. Used to have a really good and for me relaxing ride home. Then park up the bike, get inside, get the gear off and start snapping at people and being really irritable.

I came to the conclusion that it was because I was still 'focused' from the ride. I guess I must concentrate a bit.

So now when I'm on my way home I do let myself relax. After putting the bike away I tell myself to breathe and leave the ride behind. Then I'm more sociable (some may say by not much though Wink)

HTH Thumbs Up

It's fear you are all talking about.

The release of adrenaline into the bloodstream triggers the "fight or flight impulse"

You either need not to scare yourselves or learn how better to manage stress levels.

Biking is about fun and keeping fear to a minimum.

I feel so buzzing after a really stupid ride, Not so much a fast country ride but a reasonable fast midnight town ride, And before you ask I dont do anything to stupid, apart from overtake cars like made every now and again. But that really gets my blood pumping even 30mins after I put the bike in the garage.
