Ha Ha Ha, the reason is because 6 month old sxi corsa's are selling for about £6500 or £7000 with leather, try and beat that price with similar spec.
Only problem is that if i drive to college in it next year i will get lots of sarcy comments from friends because of that little badge on the side.
The clio is £6500 new for the old style but with basic spec, they are making these until 07. ____________________ Past: 06 Runner SP50 >>> 01 Varadero XL125 >>> 08 Kwak ER-6f >>> 05 CBR600rr

Im not being funny,
But i did 20mph on my mates ped, and it scared the life out of me.
Anyone who has the guts to sit there like an old granny, on a bike with absolutely no resistance against gusts of wind, at anything over 30mph, with your handbars flapping gets my respect now.
Nice ped btw Its Shiney! ( Sorry i dont know much about peds ) ____________________ CBT Aug '03 ... Gilera GSM 50 ... Honda NSR 125 Aug '04 ...

Yeh thats it... bikes that start off as 50s are designed to do speeds that 50s are capable of, and parts start to go when you try to make it do speeds that it isn't meant to do
My old scoot was a money pit, yet if I'd left it standard I doubt if I'd have had many problems at all.

Biker101 - nice bike for a scoot
derbisenda16 - nice bike. Out of interest, how much difference did just putting a pipe on it make to the top speed and acceleration? Or did you already have the other mods? Just interested as want a little bit more speed out of my bike, think it tops out at about 55 at the moment (speedo only goes up to 50) ____________________ Rieju MRX 50 Castrol Edition |

hey, umm the Racing Pipe made a hell of a difference. Firstly the bike sounds so much nicer ( pipe makes a thudding sound ) secndly i also get a hell of a early powerband so it literally flys everywere, Not to mention the wicked acceleration.
If you run a Racing pipe on a Stock Carb with the stock main jet you will be running it lean. So i got a 75 size main jet. This also improves power, The jet costs around £2 and is easy to fit. I would reccomend a pipe and jet to you! ( note, All racing pipes come restricted for 50's at least so make sure you nock out the restriction in the part of the manifold that connect to the barrel before fittng it for maximum performance!
However if you want even more performance there is a lot more you can do, Get a 19mm or 21mm carb, Metra Kit and Delorto make good ones. Get different sproket sizes, You can choose accordingly if you would prefer quicker acceleration, or slower acceleration but a higher top end speed.
You could also get an Iridium X spark plug, its debatable as to if these actually improve performance.... they do create flames from the end of your silenser though.
Another part you could get is a performance Reed Block, it is again debatable as to if these improve performance. Or just bend your stock Reeds back a little for a cheaper option.
I would advise putting some proper coolant in ( if you dont already have any in there - i used to use water lol )
After you fit these parts you wil also notise the fuel consumption of your bike gets worse and it drinks petrol. Also watch out for things like wheel barings going!
Hope this helped. |

Performance reed valves are carbon so they flutter in the gas movement easier, meaning they snap back from open to closed quicker. That's what the doppler and hebo blocks are
And for the record, I've fixed up a friends derbi GPR50 (original shape) which was suffering from bent reeds. It wouldn't rev without bogging out and stalling, we put fresh ones in, and it ran better than ever before Hit around 57mph by my 125's speedo, not bad for a fiddy.
Cheers,

yer the derbi motors are literally indestructable. U can thrash them as hard as you like and they wont pack up.....Provided you look after it properly. I belive gilera RCR's are basically the same, So any Gilera RCR owners will know what i mean! |

If Gilly RCR motors are the same as Gilly "H@k" motors, they leave a lot to be desired IMO. Another friend who had one (and now has it again, after he wrote his RS off) has had nothing but problems with his. Especially with the gearbox - 2nd gear has dissapeared along with neutral
I moved it once and couldnt get it out of first gear, riding a 50 confined to 1st isn't much fun
