Here is my scooter, its a Gilera Runner SP Race Rep, great first scoot but still restricted so a top speed so far of 42mph!

Im not being funny,

But i did 20mph on my mates ped, and it scared the life out of me.

Anyone who has the guts to sit there like an old granny, on a bike with absolutely no resistance against gusts of wind, at anything over 30mph, with your handbars flapping gets my respect now.

Thought i may aswell take this oppertunity to post some pics of my bike.
Not meaning to boast but this thing tops out at 65...its pissed over so many little peds! Also dont mean to put a damper on things but all spedo's on 50's anyway are inacurate after they go over the 31mph they are restricted too..

Peds are funny, I love them. Not as much fun as a bike, but when theres a couple of you all turned 16 cruising round on them, you have a hell of a laugh Very Happy

Thing is my bike's only got partial tuning, All its got is an Up jetted carb and a Racing pipe. A mate of mine tops out at 70mph and ive seen some Senda's with 80cc kit and uprated crank etc topping out at 80....Wouldnt trust it as far as i could throw it thow. As soon as you start increasing the speed like that things start going wrong..my m8s front wheel barings went the other day.

Yeh thats it... bikes that start off as 50s are designed to do speeds that 50s are capable of, and parts start to go when you try to make it do speeds that it isn't meant to do Laughing

My old scoot was a money pit, yet if I'd left it standard I doubt if I'd have had many problems at all.

derbisenda16 - nice bike. Out of interest, how much difference did just putting a pipe on it make to the top speed and acceleration? Or did you already have the other mods? Just interested as want a little bit more speed out of my bike, think it tops out at about 55 at the moment (speedo only goes up to 50)

I had a NRG 50 which went around 30mph & everyone would leave me behind, then i got a Ginnelli race pipe & had the fastest 50 out of all of em, indicated 65mph one time.

I've also had a Runner 172 & a Typhoon 125.

All bikes are built diffrent & go diffrent speeds even if they are the same models. Some parts effect perfomance better then others, mainly on mopeds i'd imagine tho.

They do that when they're *worn* Confused

All that does is make them flood...

I've had a set of reeds shatter before (bits of metal in the crank, niiice), and it ran so badly I had to run with it to get it to pull away..

On the derbi 50's they do! Thats all the Doppler and Hebo Are.

A mate of mine did it. ( but then again im not convinced changing reeds improve performance and how much peformance reed blocks actually do )

Performance reed valves are carbon so they flutter in the gas movement easier, meaning they snap back from open to closed quicker. That's what the doppler and hebo blocks are Wink

And for the record, I've fixed up a friends derbi GPR50 (original shape) which was suffering from bent reeds. It wouldn't rev without bogging out and stalling, we put fresh ones in, and it ran better than ever before Wink

Hit around 57mph by my 125's speedo, not bad for a fiddy.

yer the derbi motors are literally indestructable. U can thrash them as hard as you like and they wont pack up.....Provided you look after it properly. I belive gilera RCR's are basically the same, So any Gilera RCR owners will know what i mean! Thumbs Up

If Gilly RCR motors are the same as Gilly "H@k" motors, they leave a lot to be desired IMO. Another friend who had one (and now has it again, after he wrote his RS off) has had nothing but problems with his. Especially with the gearbox - 2nd gear has dissapeared along with neutral Confused

I moved it once and couldnt get it out of first gear, riding a 50 confined to 1st isn't much fun Laughing

well..thats all new to me..ive never heard of a derbi with mechanical problems... The only problems i guarantee every derbi owner has is electricall..those electrics r just made for spain where it never rains!
