 |
|
right, this one has baffled me a bit, although the fix should be simple, its totally eluded me
the rear wheel is clunking when turned by hand when the bike is up on a paddock stand
a sound that i would associate with a chain not meeting the rear sprocket quite online, but it isnt occuring every time a tooth engages with the chain, tis every 8 or so
the wheel is aligned with the same marks on both sides of the swingarm, i have tried adjusting it a few turns either way on both sides, but it doesnt seem to sort the noise
interestingly the wheel only makes the noise when the axle nut is done up, which makes it all the more frustrating trying to cancel out the errors by adjusting the chain tensioners, as you have to make the adjustment then do the axle nut back up to hear if its making the noise
seems too simple, but ive tried everything i can think of, and now need advice
thanks for any points ____________________ So in other words, he stopped you for being flagrantly in posession of a motorcycle in direct contravention of the Hippies, Darkies and People Whose Face I Don't Like The Look of (Police Powers) Act. 1976 |

10 year old bike with that milage - probably worth taking the wheel of to check the rubbers.
The good news is that if they are a bit on the tired side, you can pack them out with strips of something rubbery. re-assemble/re-fit the wheel and re-test for your clunking. Personally, I'd never ride the thing another 20,000 mile with it in a bodged state like that

Don't shout at me but my bike did this....scared the life out of me! It turned out that the way I had positioned the stand meant the sprocket nuts were hitting it and making a clunking sound. |
