When my ZZR eventually sells https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=79784 hint hint Razz , I'm considering going for a zx6r. The newest model I can afford is the 2003 model. Has anyone owned/riden one of these bikes? Whats the build quality like etc... I found the build quality on my ZZR pretty good apart from the brakes but this may be down to the fact that the bike is nearly 10 years old, previous owners have neglected it or something.
How would the zxr compare to a CBR600f? Baring in mind that the CBRs are more expensive on the second hand market and I'd be looking at a 2000ish model.

Cheers
Chris

Ask yoko...he's got one! Laughing

I've ridden the fuel injected F...i think it was the 2002 model, and it was alright but from everything i've heard about the ZX6s...i'd get one of those instead.

There's now about 5 or 6 users on here who have that bike ( I was the first Wink )

They're great bikes, although they are very focused, arse up / head down.

What sort of money are you thinking of spending for a 2003 ?

Personally I think the ZX6R is a bit more focussed than the CBR-F, a RR is a more similar comparisson.

It depends on your riding to shich you will prefer. I've the B2h which I think is fantastic. £4k will get you radial brakes, usd forks, 110bhp in a great handling chassis. Your right in thinking the Hondas hold their value better, but the B series Ninjas were the last of the 'scare the hell out you' and have become very popular now. The newer C series is far more compliant, still breath-taking, but without the rawness.

See www.mcnninjas.co.uk/forum/ for some slightly biased advice!

Yeah, i got a B1h a few weeks ago.

great bikes, but like Everready said already, VERY focused. You can't really compare the CBR600F and the ZX6R, a better comparison would be the CBR600RR as has already been said.

In 2003 it was the fastest 600 sports money could buy, and to be honest i don't think theres much in it today. They are good for 165Mph and will do 60 in 3 seconds dead (with Mr Rossi riding) I have found it to be excellent in the corners when the road surface is good, but the ride is very bumpy everywhere else, and if i had the money i would probably get a steering damper or the suspension setup for a more compliant road ride.

All in all an excellent bike, what sold it for me was the Induction Roar, it sounds like an angry Possum.
