Theyre a good first big bike apparently. Not a lot of point test riding a few at this stage, just sit on a few. ____________________ Northern Irish? www.nibikers.com |

I think it's one of the least fun sports style bikes you can get.
But that also means that it's easy to ride to some degree and a good first bike in my opinion.
Personally I wouldn't want to be paying that much at all for a 99 bike. About a month ago I paid £1k for a 20k mile 99 bike, had a couple of minor things to sort, but not a problem.
Took me quite a while to find one that good value though.
Personally I would look at around the £1.5k end for bikes with a bit higher mileage maybe - I reckon you'll lose less on these and you'll have £750 to get bike kit etc, or do something else fun with . |

To much - see here
The mere fact that there are so many SV's around means you can afford to be picky. So if you're after a curvy (old style) SV then look closely at the engine for corrosion as the build quality's not quite as good as the newer pointy style. If it's heavily pitted then turn away as a full service history is irrelevant. The lack of washing shows how caring he really is
Also ignore G above . If somethings sells in large numbers it's good for a reason. You don't sell lots of bikes unless they are fun to ride and since the naked unfaired version is there to cover the commuting aspect, the faired is mainly sold to cover the pleasure side of the market....... The SV650s (faired version) was last years 9th top selling bike. nuff said |

You do sell lots of bikes if they are not fun to ride. Ok the C90 can actually be a hoot to ride, but that's not the reason it's the best selling bike in the history of bikes.
I believe the c90 was maybe the top selling bike or up there in the top three - haven't seen any owners claim it's funner than the sportier oppositon. They do however say they got it for the cheap price and ease of use.
Plenty of people choose a faired bike for commuting - I definitely don't want to be doing 50 motorway miles a day on an unfaired bike (though it might help me not riding so fast ).
Also I said I find it boring, not that everyone does. He has obviously heard the other side of the story, so it seems fair that he should hear that some people don't like them as well?
Should he also ignore me saying it's a good first bike and is easy to ride? |

It's also fugly if you ask me (no offence, John). It looks like some Voodoo Shamen has come along and shrunken its head. It's still got clip-ons on it.

it will still ride nice though
it looks better than mine does, cos at least that one has the wraparound panels around the seat
if you think that is a rough and ready streetfighter job, wait till u see mine (Its runs now so i will bring it to bassetts)
if necessary, he could always get farings and a standard light for it although if he wants to do that he might as well buy a tt600 that comes with them
mine was £1900 when it had all its fairings in place but occasionally you can get them for less on ebay
the engine on a tt600 is not as othergood other sports 600s of the same year, but its cheaper to buy and insurance is less. ____________________ colin1 is officially faster than god |
