I've looked at a 01 VTR Firestorm, imported by independant owner from new, uk spec. missed out the dealer.

Serviced and stamp in a service record book - but book is a little book from a local servicing garage, not a Honda dealership supplied book.

claimed mileage 2960. bike is absolutley immaculate - looks new.

warning bells?

local dealer selling bike has a good shop and long established - he only sells V.clean low milers.

opinions sought.

cheers

3.2 million pounds seems a bit pricey, despite the low miles.

I know if i were to be looking at buying my bike it might seem a bit dodgey. Some people just prefer to keep the bikes, and not ride them too much. There could also be other explinations, wouldent be the first time ive heard about someone putting a bike into storage and forgetting about it or dying. Or the classic of the person who runs into financial problems and puts it into storage, and eventually has to bring it back out and sell it. Just lucky i guess. On the other hand, my speedo drive failed a short while ago, therefore its stopped recording milage gained, but due to the high maintainence i give the bike, you would never know.

hpi is clear.

there's always a niggling question mark on bikes like this... it's the cleanest one i've seen apart from new ones.

I was going to look at a dukey 750SS, 2001, 1900 genuine miles - 1 owner who has a medical condition and can only ride when fit to do so so bike is, well - as new... but sat on one and thought feck that + will defo need new bits, its a duke afterall.

Unless the insurance people scare the shit out of me i'll be having this VTR methinks.

Doesn't seem like an amazingly good price to me, so it wouldn't immediately ring any alarm bells.

Warning bells would only be ringing 'cos I think the Storm is particularly slow/bland for a litre class sports twin Smile - but then when it was first sold it was massively hyped as a sports bike rather than more of a commuter.

I've often thought about getting a VTR next. I do love the V-twin - the IL4 bikes I have ridden just didn't seem to have that je nais c'est quoi I get from the SV. I've also considered the SV thou (I've heard too many bad things about the TLS) but I loved the VFR800. Possibly because it might be the perfect combination of IL4-V-twin (or maybe the ST is Question ) but mostly, I think, because it fits my needs almost spot-on.

Let me know how you get on with it, I'm very interested to hear your opinions. Thumbs Up

Low mileage doesn't always mean dodgy, some people don't get as much time to ride their bikes as they like.

As above, HPI check it.

Hows it's price compare with others on biketrader and completed listings on ebay?

Is it worth buying such an immaculate example? are you going to do alot of mileage? if not then fair enough, but if you are may aswell get a higher mileage cheaper one?

it's your money.

Also do you know if it has an MOT, is it adapted for UK roads?

So as with all service histories possibly fake.

Sending a bike across a border cleans its history. Personally imported UK spec? bollocks.

its not odd , warricks is selling a firestorm for a little under 3K , with less than 1.9K on the clocks , 01 reg , it was more but its been there a while cus everybody gets scared of the insurance.

Though selling to Warricks is a bad thing hes a tight git and gives you sod all for anything you wanna sell him.
