This is fucking bollocks guys.

I went down to a sailing club to get my kite license (giving me insurance etc) and i went on my dad's kwaker 250.

I park the bike at the club and it happened to be a busy day (lots of sailing racing so all sorts of 4 x 4s towing trailers about 25 feet long.

One of these trailers twatted the bike as it was going round the corner bending the indicator on the left side and knocking the bike over onto it's right side and breaking off the tip of the break lever. I get back to the bike from the office and notice the tip of the lever on the seat but didn't notice the bent indie. Naturally i call my dad and explain and he says he doesn't believe me and to get my fucking ass home right away.

So i ride home steadily, knowingly my luck i'd get knocked off. I get home to find my dad out so i call him and say can i go to squash and he said no and hung up the phone.

So he walks in ten minutes later yelling at me saying what the fuck happened and i told him again and he said well why the fuck is the indicator bent on the opposite side that it got knocked over (cuz i hadn't noticed it before i had no reply) and he carried on yelling and said you fucking lying shit get to your room and lock the fucking door. I don't want you out of there today or ever again.

It's just gone over the top, i can't hack it anymore. I'm in fucking tears, someone, anyone help me. Please.

Ok, do you have a job, and your own transport. If so I recommend a holiday. Seriously.

dont cry
only you know if you were lying
your dad sounds like a bit of a twat, but its not impossible that you lied so i dont blame him too much

just accept that he doesnt believe you and suffer the consequences

dunno how old you are or what your situation is, but moving out might be good so this sort of aggro doesnt happen again

Take a vacation see the world maybe perhaps move somewhere else? , living out gives you a whole new perspective on the world , and eats badly into your wallet.

If you're sure you're telling the truth then just give him some time to relax, then go over the damage with him and, as you were responsible for the bike at the time, think of a way you can help to get it fixed.

Dad's are rubbish with expressing their feeling when their sons are involved, my dad would go nuts if I spilt some drink or smashed something!

If the bike was hit on one side and fell over on to the other then it's going to have damage on both sides is it not?

I remember when I lived at home, now i'm the daddy (only toddlers).

I remember crashing my dads car.

My dads reaction was simmilar, didn't even ask if I was okay, only my mum did.

PS The cars damage only came to about £15, the other car £5. Was about 17 years ago so double it.

I think you need to understand a little thing about life: You can't have it all your own way.

If you want to live at home and not pay any board, get your parents to pay for luxary items for you (like motorcycles), use and borrow your parents things (like your dad's bike) and generally be completely dependant on them, then you are not going to be treated like an adult or an equal and you are not going to have complete freedom.

When you are still dependant on them like a kid, they will treat you like a kid.

Thanks for all the replies guys, generally positive, but hey shit happens.

I've bent the indicator back into place but not much i can do about the lever (unless i buy two new matching ones) because i've only ever seen one other bike like it.

Nath, i don't plan on being totally dependant on my parents for the rest of my life, hell i even just got myself a job that pays 250 quid a month...not bad in my point of view but i'll try scrape enough together and go for a kitesurfing holiday somewhere....

Siggi, my tracking skills aren't as good as yours, can you try find him for me? I'm sure he looked something like this:

I presume he thinks you fell off. Once he has calmed down, point out that if you had crashed, there would be scrape markes along where the bike slid rather than scuffs from hitting the ground.

What sort of bike? I presume it is an old/odd one?

I went through exactly the same kind of thing with my Dad. It is natures way of telling you to move the hell out. There are two adult males in the house and it will inevatibly lead to warring.

In the situation you describe, my Dad would have thrown stuff at me, threatened to chuck me out of the house then gone and upset everyone else in the house too. We get along very well now we don't live under the same roof all the time.

Yeh it is, you guys had it easy with the belt and all, now we just get what we want, told to sit down and shut up! Laughing

Stink, you're spot on, he thought i had be knocked off again.

The bike's a kawasaki 250 estrella...it's actually a 2001 model but very hard to come by and he was just upset.

I suppose the time is coming closer and closer for me to move out...but i just can't afford it yet. And untill i can i'm stuck here for a while.

Shocked Shocked that all? 250 a month?

What age are you? What you doing before you got the job? College? School?

If you are working full time 250 a month is crap - get outta there.. you should be looking for at least 600-700 a month.

PS - Stinkwheel is right about the two adult males thing. I hhated my dad, he hated me, we would constantly fight about anything and everything. I moved out, we're now best mates. Karma

GYKD, i'm 17 and i'm STILL at college, i just do the work from home, show my face every now and again and hand my work in.

I know 250 a month ain't much but i've got a roof over my head, a bed to sleep in and food. I'll basically be saving up the money for a 6RR cuz i don't need anything else.

Maybe when i move out and share a flat with mates i'll learn to appreciate my parents a lot more. Guess that really will be thinking outside the box.

Ah right. Ok mate. Dont worry bout the rows, theres always arguments. I remember when i was at college, shit me and me dad were like arch rivals. If i said one thing he would jump straight down my throat. We'd argue and never back down. I never did what he said, just out of spite, to prove to him that i didnt need him.

Then when i moved out it kinda died off, and now its great. We get on well, see eye to eye on so many issues. He actually tells me stuff about his life which he hasnt told my mum (his wife for 35+ years) so theres definately a bond there now which wasnt there 5 years ago.

Keep smilin mate, and like someone has said - you got a job, you got transport - take your bike away for a little while, clear your head - it will do you both the world of good. Thumbs Up Karma
