The wee bikes get such a slagging off on here, it's time to speak up and say something good about them.

I finally rode one, taking Cassy's in for a service at the Honda garage about 10 miles away.

It was a fucking HOOT!

They're so small and light that it's like riding a pushbike with an engine. Tons of revs to play with so it sounds like you're really working it and before you realise it you're scooting through town at 50mph. It only becomes a struggle when you're staring down the 70 limit, but not in "oh god, come on before I get crushed' kind of way, it's happy at 70, it just hasn't got much more to give. But who buys a 125 for motorway speed cruising anyway?

I even beat a GSXR1000 off the lights but I spose that might have been cos he was fiddling with his boot when they went green.

Maybe I just didn't ride small bikes enough when I started out, but I'm having a definitely having a phase of enjoying them (the courtesy XR125 is a laugh too).

I'm looking forward to going back to collect the mini CBR later. So there. Middle Finger Very Happy Middle Finger

I've always wondered what these were like to ride compared to me RS125. Might try and blag a test ride on one Saturday to see how the two match up to each other and if theres as much a difference in power between the two as people say Thinking

I hope i haven't slagged any of the smaller bikes on here.

I too enjoy riding them, you can really really ring their necks and chuck them about without getting really really scared.

I've not really ridden many of the modern 125's but i had great fun on old GS125 last year and would happily ride something similar again.

They are refreshing after riding a ballistic missile around.

It's about time some one actually riden one. I own one and have always said they are top bike because they are just a blast to ride and suprise you. But no, I always get shot down by some one who says they are crap, a CG with fairing, a 4T crapper or are really slow.

Thank god someone actually riden one then passed judgement.

GOD BLESS YOU BENDY!!! Thumbs Up Very Happy

Honda are doing alright out of them if you look at the sales figures, seems like they know their market well enough. I usually see a couple on the way to work in the mornings, a black one and a Repsol, always give em a nod. I'd have no hesitation as a suggestion to my wife as a learner if she wanted to start again, she found the NSR a bit leary at times.

A CBR 125 could easily beat a gixxer off the lights (to about 12mph) Laughing

Try going around corners on one. You can get round hairpins at crazy speeds with hardly any lean angle Confused

I wouldn't go that far but I have had my knee down several times while taking round-abouts a little too fast. To me it seems as if they want to lean until the bars touch down.

Of course they do, with tyres that thin! Laughing Wink

I don't think anyone ever said that as a bike, the CBR isn't good. It's based around a bulletproof engine, and it's got enough power to not be destroyed on a dual carriageway. I think it was Honda's laziness in slapping an old design under some new fairings, and that a CG can do the same whilst costing a third of the price, which made everyone scoff.

I would like a shot on one I have to say. They do look quite amusing about town, I can see why they exist.

I just can't get over their aesthetics really! Shocked Sick

Wonder if its me???
Great bike I love mine, taking the DAS in a few weeks but hope to keep it as long as I can and maybe buy a weekend plaything next year. It gets through the rush hour traffic easily as its so skinny. Yes the rear tyre looks terrible but I only ever notice when Im filtering behind another CBR125 but it obviously doesn't need to be any wider due to the low power delivery (but good enough to beat most cars at the lights) It would be nicer with more top end but its gone up to 87mph on the speedo (76GPS) 60mph upwards acceleration is pittiful but 0 -60 I'm happy with for town riding

Wouldnt mind getting another hartford legion.

Had one last winter, cos it had such shite wheels/tyres you could slide it round junctions. It wheelied pretty well (for a 125 4t) and when i binned it it cost me £35 quid to fix Thumbs Up
Only cost 400 quid too, and i sold it for £440 so i made 5 quid over the crash Wink

I came down to that from my goose 350 after i hadnt been riding for a bit.

Was great fun having absolutely no fear of wrecking it.

Altho i still have NO idea why the cunt lowsided me off on a slow gradual right hander.

True, but usually it slid about abit and was a good laugh. And i was doing some crazy slides on it with a fair degree of control.

But it literally was upright, sliding down road.

Instantly.

And i didnt see any diesel, it wasnt icy, it wasnt wet, just a tad cold. And i wasnt leaning it much.

She wasn't saying that a CG without a fairing wouldn't be fun though Smile.

I don't have a problem with slow bikes - but there's no way I think a CBR is worth what they are being sold for at the moment, considering the alternatives.

Have you ridden any 125 2 stroke bikes properly?
I appreciate a few people do prefer a shiny new (if ugly) and slower bike for the sake of it.

Small bikes are pretty fun, i've had the pleasure of a dt125 to rag about over the last week or so. Fun to ride and you can literally take them anywhere. The knobblies on them aren't really that bad either, still possible to get low(ish) on them.
The area is lacking is the front brake, lever to the bar all the time and the front disc is stupidly warped.
Apart from that, the 125 is a laugh to buzz about on.
