How to get rid of resin on the exhaust?

I currently have to park my CG under a pine tree and it seems to drip resin onto the bike. On the seat, tank and bike in general it is no trouble to get rid of, but on the exhaust it leaves nice black burn marks which are impossible to remove. I tried "Auto-Glym bike cleaner" and WD40 to get rid of them without success so far (using a "non-stick" sponge) with plenty of elbow grease. Does anyone have any idea how to get rid of them (short of wet&dry or sandpaper and HT paint)?

Try cellulose thinners. Thats the stuff used to thin automotive paints so any autocare style shop will have it. It's cheaper by the gallon from a paint shop or airfield though (aircraft use it to thin down cellulose dopes for fabric covering of wings etc)

Anyways, it will work as it's essentially a plant extract itself and will readily disolve sap. Also disolves plastic so watch out for splashes. Wear rubber gloves as it's nasty evil smelling stuff that causes cancer faster than you can say 'twice mutant'!

Chances are its cooked on and will be almost impossible to get off now. I THINK you could try petrol (when the exhaust is cold), but i'd confirm this with someone more wise than me, as it could destroy the finish on the metal (i know it destroys paint).

i had some of the mrs boot sole boiled onto my can, some thinners, and some fine grade wire wool got it off in no time, dont be too rough with it, as it can leave light scratches.
